Sorry but i will say Terry and Acole doest not fit the best defender category yet. Terry only play for chelsea and Acole has not done nothing for chelsea. Only Gallas and Rio are the better ones which they have both play well in previous club and now.

I just watched the AUStralia v Ghana match.
I have to say the Australians played so well, they were all over Ghana , movemnet off the ball was terrific and Vinnie Grella Passing was A class.
They have to be the most improves football team over the past couple of years. Even thought the game ended 1-1 Australia shouldve won about 4 -1.

Im a Celtic fan and Stephen McManus is as good as John Terry, you wont get a more similar defender to Terry than Stephen "Mick" McManus
He plays exactly like him and if you swaped them you woldnt notice only that they look different, McManus scored 10 goals last season all headers from corners in his first season after coming through from the youth and hes scored 3 already this season similar to Terry
They are Good Solid Defenders, not classy defenders like Cannavaro, Puyol or Nesta but solid defenders who dont mess about and lead by example to how defending should be done!!!
If Terry played for a team like Charlton he would make a lot of mistakes and wouldnt be the player he is now i agree, hes not the best but hes the kind of defender that having good players all around him can flourish

why is john terry made out to be this great defender?
beacause he won two league titles - look at the side he was playing in , a class above everyone.
Terry is not a solid defender at all. He is very uncomfortable on the ball and i really do think he is very over rated . and im a chelsea fan , our titles in the past 2 years have been the center of lampard and makelele. He also had a shocking world cup worst england defence in a long time, he looked very sloppy against sweden.
im not sayin JT is a bad player but there are much much better defneders in england and in the world.
I( think beckham shuldve been kept as england captain but he wasnt so i wuldve picked gerrard as captain a much more inspiring and influential playrt the JT.
just a quick note, of course Newcastle r gonna be interested in Dawson he is quality but why would Tottenham accept an offer, Dawson wouldnt leave a club like Tottenham because good things are happening there, moving to Newcastle would be a step back.

Becks' entire reputation as a captain was based on nothing but the greece game.He isn't a captain-he's a mouse.He was only made captain because a)wrong public opinion at the time was that just because he was a good player,he'd be a good captain and b)there was nobody else.Fact is,Terry is a double league-winning captain and should remain England captain.
Also,Rooney is incredible.So what is he doesn't score loads of goals.He isn't that type of player.Everything good Man U does goes through either him,Ronaldo or sometimes Scholes.I wish Liverpool had him.All Liverpool need to do is keep the same team for a while and watch them gel.All their problems are because they've hardly ever played together.Rotation is good when you have alot of world class players to choose from.Liverpool do not.Only Crouch,Kuyt,Gerrard,Sissoko,Riise,Agger and Carragher (and Alonso at a push) are top 4 standard.Compare Gonzalez to Van persie or Finnan to Eboue.

Let's be honest Liverpool have serious problems - the marking from set pieces is shocking - they can't even get the zonal system close to right, ok so it might not be everyone's cup of tea but when worked right it is a lot better than the disgrace that was Liverpool's attempt at defending today.
Then going forward there is no movement, nothing except for Kuyt who worked his socks off again. Gerrard, like most of the 'team' is content to stand around for 90% of the time while we have a player on the ball. Contrast that with Arsenal where their players were constantly making angles and runs to give the man on the ball options.
I am seriously beginnning to wonder if Rafa really is the right man for the job, he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. He doesn't seem to realise that just because summat worked in Spain it doesn't mean it will work here. But, having said that, I can't really see a better manager who would be available, though I would love to see Hiddink in charge of us.
