To the Liverpool fan who called Yossi and Diego "average". No disrespect to you but I think you must have missed seeing Diego last season. He was exllent for me the best player in the German league. I used to work at the roker hotel, and its true they don't stay in the hotel, but they do stay in flats which are owned by the company, as I personally put stan varga into one when he came for his medical, also connelly stayed in one, and other players have since I left. just so u know.

Some of the rumours that appear on this site are absolute rubbish. I am a HUGE Liverpool fan and hate the stories of big–named players supposedly moving to LFC. However I have read in other places that Fernando Torres is a probable move for 18 million + Luis Garcia.

i personally think that on the performances of the England under–21 team that maybe Rafa should spend money on players that he can develop into natural players instead of spending extortionate amounts of money on 1 or 2 players that will only be at the club for 2 or 3 years

come on Rafa make some worthwhile signings, not just splashing the cash on foreign players who are highly rated in Europe but you never no how they will perform to the high tempo of the English game

OK – first of all I am not the groundsman gardeners pet dog's great aunt who has got an inside wisper of goings on at my beloved club, I'm simply a disgruntled Liverpool fan who cannot believe some of the tripe I'm Reading (god I do hope it's not true. )

Being serious for one moment, and recognising that on last years league performance we remain at least 3 world class players away from seriously competing over 38 games, can someone explain to me why we are being linked with Yossi, Diego and other 'average' players and we don't seem (at this stage – I'm really trying to retain my faith in Rafa/ Gillet&Hicks. ) to be seriously in contention for the highest calibre players like Tevez/ Eto'/ Villa/ Torres/ Sabrosa/ Alves/ Malouda that we so desperately need?

Is being linked with the dross just a smokescreen to hide our real intentions? When will the quality signings be seen or are we going to be saying "I told you so. " 10 games into the new season when we've already conceded the title after failing to beat the likes or Villa, Sunderland, Birmingham, Derby etc (no disrespect to the teams listed – but I bet Man United and Chelski will turn them over) ?

I've read recently that we should be patient. Well, I feel that I am being patient and all I ask is that Rafa etc do not let us down over the next few weeks – make the commitment you promised and You'll Never Walk Alone.

Do any other LFC fans feel the same or am I just being unrealistic?

To the Liverpool supporter who wrote the above. Spot on mate. You are one of the only genuine LFC supporters that I have come across on these sites and left out unrealistic fantasies and dreams. I agree It's time LFC step up to the plate and stop all the hot air. Either we are going to make a realistic challenge or just shut up. Personally

The guy with over rated lists is way way off.
keiron dyer? he's awful. and that's from a Newcastle fanthe guy who said Rio is over rated is spot on, the media insist on callin him world class, when really he isn't even in the same league as Nesta Puyol and Cannavaro. they are so so much better than him. Steven Taylor is a under rated player, but I think with the under 21s gettin so much publicity lately, it will only be a few mnths before I can say he is over rated, people build players up so much, he's a good player, but still young, with a world class centre back to partner him, he would grow into a world class player himself, but lets face it he will never get a top class partner at Newcastle, but he's a local lad so he might stay with us anyway and settle for mediocre football with sam and his band of bullies.

I think Paul Robinsons a good shot stopper, and there are others, Carson and Foster are both capable of stepping up, David James was the most in–form 'keeper of last season, he should've been made number one. To the guy with the overrated list, are you a Chelsea, Everton or Man United fan? To put Carragher as overrated is a complete joke, he gets no recognition, nor does he seek it, he's quite happy to sit back and let Stevie G have the limelight, but if all Liverpool fans had a choice between Gerrard or Carragher to stay, they'd be torn, Carragher is just as important, and should be Englands first choice centre–back with John Terry, if you want an overrated defender, look no further than Rio Ferdinand.

The English Premier league is totally dominated ny foreign players. You look at the current crop of English youngsters in comparison to some other countries and just wonder how bad The English nationl team will eventually get.

Some off the rumours on this site seem to be good and from reliable sources, then some are totally wrong and others are complete rubbish, that some people seem to make up. I think the site would be a lot better if people who post rumours are given a rating out of 10 or as a percentage and a record kept of how many posts. so that when they post rumours again people have some idea how credible or reliable the source is. I know this would take a lot of time and effort but I think it would improve this part of the site a great deal. just an idea I had because its very hard to know which rumours to believe so I tend not to believe any till they actually happen.

To the guy talking about underrated players such as king, Finnan, Carragher, dawson ect. I agree with all of them except Paul Robinson, he has got to be one of the worst goal keepers in the Premiership I know he is Englands number 1 but only because there is no one else, Paul Robinson is terrible and you think he is underated, Christ

To the guy on the best squads page, all Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham players are overrated? That's why they're four of the best five teams in the country? Get a grip mate, Liverpool have two definite underrated players in Carragher and Finnan, Tottenham have a lot of underrated players, Dawson, King, Robinson, Defoe. Portsmouths underrated players? An awful lot of them, perhaps they're underrated because they're simply not good enough, the likes of Gary O'Neill and Mvuemba wouldn't get in a top 6 Premiership team, and that alone makes them rated for exactly what they are, good players in a poor team.

Stop saying all this junk about who Sunderland will loan because everyone knows Keane doesn't like the loan system he didn't when he was a player and he still doesn't and will only use it in an emergency. Danny simpson for example filled in at right back second half of season

Exaclty English players are made out better than what they actually are. Rooney is the most over rated if you watch him play you can see how many mistakes he actually makes in game. But when he scores he's all of a sudden the best superstar in the game. Realistically 41 goals in 100 games for United is below average. And don't start this garbage about he sets up goals as well so does every forward in the world basically. You look at a Kaka or Ronaldinho both score more than Rooney and both set more goals up than Rooney. Wayne Rooney is a good player but The reason these young talented English players will never rise to be up with the like of the Spanish,Italian and Brazilian players is because the media and fans talk them up so much they feel there too good for anyone.
I guarntee a English player won't win a world player of the year for the next 10 years.

Haha at the guy on the rumours saying 'Rafa will join Real and his first signing will be Lampard as he sees him as the complete midfielder he doesn't believe Gerrard is'. are you kidding? Gerrard is MUCH better than Lampard, Lampard can't tackle, has no pace, and even his cRossing and passing is dodgy, he's got a good finish on him, that's about it, Gerrard is widely renowned as the most complete midfielder in Europe, Lampard gets 20 goals a season because of the team he's in, if he played for a Newcastle or Tottenham, he wouldn't be half the player he is, Gerrard excelled in an underperfoming Liverpool side, coming through in the Roy Evans era, please. get a grip of yourselves Chelsea fans.

I don't agree with being a 'football fan' ahead of a fan of your club, yeah, ideally we'd all love our clubs to play brilliant football, but in reality, every true fan wouldn't care, no Manchester United fan would've been bothered if they'd have won the league with all 1–0 wins last season, I'm a lifelong Liverpool fan, and am used to the emphasis being on defense, from Houlliers era, to Rafas, although Rafa tried to change that last season, but you know, it's still a fantastic achievement to go to a place like the Nou Camp in the UEFA Cup and draw 0–0 (Houllier era) and go to the Nou Camp and win 2–1 in the champions league (Rafa era) , I really think the Premiership is the most exciting and quickest league in the world, although the Spanish title was a lot more exciting this year. I think people who dismiss English players as 'overrated' are fools, clubs like Barca, Real, Inter, AC Milan, would jump at the chance to sign Gerrard, Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Lampard or Rooney.

Like I said though, I'm a football fan before a Newcastle fan, and I believe appointing allardyce is the biggest mistake the club has ever made. and if Newcastle play the style of football that Bolton did, I just don't want to watch, its awful, it wins games, but as a fan of football I want to be entertained, and long ball does nothing for me, or any other football fan.

as far as the Liverpool issue, it was a fantastic achievement to win the champions league, and at the time I was pleased, but then listening to all the scousers claiming there were the best in Europe was just annoying. its selective memory, Everton finished higher that year, which means on a whole that year they performed better than you in the league, but because your an person u can't giv them any credit for it. at least be honest with urself, I'm nt saying Everton are better cause that would be ridiculous, but for that one yr, surely the table proves they played a little above themselves and managed to outshine ther local rivals in the league.

i won't lie, I dispise Liverpool, and Man United, but I can still admitt they are great teams and I wish Newcastle could play that standard of football, however, having people like Peter Crouch and Gary Neville in the ranks, is just unacceptable.

as I said th reason players want to come to England is because of the media exposure in this country, the press build people up so so much. it makes u not only a superstar of the football world but also a celebrity, which is typical of English society.

I mean what really notable achievments have Villa made? Spurs are the first English club to win a European cup and have finished closer to the top four in the last two previous seasons than any other side. were have Aston Villa finished? 10th? 12? MID–TABLE MECRODITY!

I could not agree more with the guy who says that English players are over rated. they are not as good as the English media makes them to be. I am not an English citizen or resident but even before an English player has played a league game he is already on the newspapers as the next big thing. Look at Walcott. No offence but he is not yet a star same with Rooney. No wonder Rooney hadnt scored in the Champions league for nearly three seasons. Infact I didn't know Kaka was that good until he outclassed manU, and that's because the Italian media didn't make him look better than he actually was.
Fact is, English players need to swallow their pride and accept their rightful place on the world charts and maybe they need the help of the media as well.

Liverpool are a lot closer to winning the league than Arsenal, especially since Henry is going, don't make excuses about injuries, we still finished ahead of you, look at our Champions League winning season, we ended up having to play Neil Mellor as a lone striker for a lot of it, and were missing, Cisse, Garcia and Gerrard for best parts of the season. Yes Everton did finish higher than us, that doesn't make them better, get nothing for finishing fourth, we won the champions league, Everton then got knocked out in the qualifying round for the champs league, which shows they're not even on a par with us, so you 'shut it'. Idiot.
