Could there be an all-English final?
I just have to congratulate Manchester United and Chelsea on their qualification for the Champions League semi finals. It must be said Man U played magnificently against a Roma side that looked a shadow of the team from the first leg. It was United that did all the pressing and harrying and Roma just could not cope with it.
The pace of Man U's attacks ripped Roma to shreds, their midfield struggled to cope with the loss of Perrotta, whereas United had no such problems without Scholes. In fact Carrick looked a much better player with the greater freedom afforded him by having Fletcher alongside him.
It was a result the Red Devils desperately needed to give them a confidence boost ahead of the title run-in. united must now fancy their chances against either Milan or Bayern in the semi, neither team look good enough to stop the Reds from reaching the final.
In fact an all English final must now be odds on to happen. With Liverpool almost certain to go through to face Chelsea the only uncertainty is Man U and on the strength of their two performances against Roma they have to be big favourites to reach the final.
