Champions League
After all four quarter-finals have been played the only reason I can see for Liverpool being favourites to win the Champions League is the fact they are the only ones almost certain to make the semis. I do admit I feel they will win it but I think they can not be judged on their performance against a severely weakened PSV team.
Their defence is clearly incompetent without Alex and they did not even play with a striker from the start. Though what Jefferson Farfan was doing playing as a winger when no one else was playing up front completely mystified me.
I think Ronald Koeman was trying to be too clever for his own good by trying to halt the full backs forward runs. All in all it must be said it was a dreadful performance by PSV rather than a particularly good one by Liverpool.
Both AC Milan and Bayern Munich looked distinctly average apart from Kaka. I really can not see either of those two making it to the final unless they really step their game up a level or two.
Chelsea and Valencia are both very capable of winning the tournament, though neither are in really sparkling form at the moment. But they are very hard to beat and always capable of scoring at any moment, whichever team gets though will be a real danger to Liverpool's hopes of a sixth trophy.
Roma could so easily go on to win this competition provided they keep Totti, Mancini and Chivu fit, healthy and available. But Manchester United, I feel, lost their chance of the trophy when Vidic got injured. If it had been Rio Ferdinand out I would still back them as a likely winner, but Nemanja Vidic has been the difference for them this season.
