Arsenal have signed highly rated Valencia defender Yago Fernandez in a £100,000 deal according to newspaper reports.
The Mirror claim that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has secured the services of Fernandez despite interest from other Premiership clubs, including Liverpool.
The youngster has sign a pre-contract with the north London giants that will see him move to the Emirates Stadium on a five-year deal in July.
The highly regarded Portuguese defender was only on an amateur contract at Valencia allowing Arsenal to lure him away for £100,000, a practice that Wenger has used to spectacular effect in the past, most notably in the signing of Cesc Fabregas.
Fernandez said: "This is the biggest opportunity of my life because I know Wenger works with young players and I will have more chances at Arsenal than in Spain."
