Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will be sidelined for at least a month after suffering a knee injury playing for the Netherlands.
Van Persie, 24, limped out of his country's match against Slovenia on Wednesday and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger confirmed his leading scorer faces a lengthy spell out of action.
Wenger will also be without Philippe Senderos for two weeks after the Swiss defender was injured on international duty.
But it is the loss of in-form van Persie, who had scored five goals in his last four matches, that is the major blow for the Premier League leaders.
"It looks like a knee injury," Wenger told ArsenalTV. "We will know later today how bad it is but the early signs are that he will not be able to perform for us in the next four weeks. It is a big blow. Robin is a striker, a supportive striker and important on set-pieces as well. I hope he will be back soon and we'll do the maximum to get him back."
Wenger can at least welcome back France defender William Gallas, German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Rosicky for Saturday's visit from Bolton.

Arsenal's Armand Traore has turned down the chance of a loan move in the belief his continuing improvement will be better served by staying with the Gunners.
The left-back - who only turned 18 last week but is said by Arsenal captain William Gallas to have "monster potential" - has already scored twice for the reserves this term.
He also produced an eye-catching performance when called up for Carling Cup duty against Newcastle in a 2-0 win last month.
And although he accepts that a loan move may still be beneficial one day he revealed: "I have spoken with the boss (Arsene Wenger) and he has said the position of official second-choice left-back is there for me. It doesn't mean it will be always there, though. So I must just keep trying hard in training and when I am asked to play, just show that I can do it."
Traore played regularly in the League Cup competition last season - including the final defeat by Chelsea.
Coca-Cola Championship Charlton are thought to be one of the clubs willing to take Traore - who signed from Wenger's former team Monaco at the start of last season - on loan and give him first-team experience.
But he added on his club's official website: "I think I am going to stay at Arsenal and still try to keep improving every day in training. I wanted to do that rather than go on loan, but when I speak to the manager (in future) and he tells me that it has to be done, then of course it will be done."

Arsene Wenger has revealed Jens Lehmann and William Gallas are back in full training with Arsenal, but not in time for Sunday's match.
The Gunners boss also had good news to report on Tomas Rosicky and Alexandre Song, who are both almost ready to return to full training after minor injuries.
Lehmann returned to the training field on Thursday morning and Gallas was due back today, Wenger told Arsenal TV Online on Thursday afternoon.
"Lehmann came back into full training today," he said.
"Gallas should be in full training tomorrow. Rosicky and Song as well. Physically they are all better. But all of them will be short to be considered for Sunday. The only one completely out though is Eduardo."

Emmanuel Adebayor has been declared fit to face Steaua Bucharest while Alexander Hleb has travelled with the rest of the Arsenal squad.
Adebayor has been struggling with a minor thigh injury but has been declared fit for the clash against the Romanian outfit on Tuesday night, much to the relief of Arsene Wenger.
"When we played against Sevilla people said it was a test game," the striker revealed. "For me there are no test games. We just go out and try to win."
Meanwhile, it looked as though Hleb was definitely out after taking a heavy whack to his leg during Saturday's 1-0 victory against West Ham but it has now been revealed he is the squad that has travelled.
Abou Diaby (ankle) and Mathieu Flamini (groin) will face late fitness tests, while Jens Lehmann (elbow), captain William Gallas (groin), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Eduardo (groin) and Alex Song (calf) are all out.

Gilberto's future at Arsenal appears to be in the balance after he admitted being aware of interest from both Valencia and Juventus.
The Brazilian ace is finding life difficult at the moment as he is struggling to force his way into the first team picture at the Emirates, and he has also been overlooked for the captaincy at the club in favour of William Gallas.
This is despite the fact that Gilberto was expected to become the main man in the midfield this season and because of his continued absence from the side, there are now doubts over whether he will sign a new deal at the club, with his contract due to run out in the summer of 2009.
He told the Mirror: "I'm not sure whether I will re-sign when my contract runs out in 18 months time. I know there has been interest from Valencia and Juventus. We will see but I still have an ambition to win the Champions League with Arsenal."
