May 13 2003: West Brom have released
a number of players to prepare themselves for next season in
the English First Division. Bob Taylor, Brian Jensen, Des
Lyttle, Jordao and Matt Collins are the 5 released. On-loan
PAOK Salonika full back Iffy Udeze has returned to Greece,
and Lee Marshall has been placed on the transfer list.
May 6 2003: 29 year old AZ Alkmaar defender Joost
Volmer is on trial at West Brom.
Apr 30 2003: Midfielder Jason Koumas has scooped
the West Brom Supporters Player of the Year
award. Second choice keeper Joe Murphy has won the Eircom/FAI
U21 Player of the year award.
Apr 16 2003: St Patrick's Athletic Club have
signed keeper Chris Adamson from West Bromwich Albion.
Mar 30 2003: West Brom, Bolton and
West Ham are all to give a trial to 16 year old Swansea
Youth Academy striker Chad Bond.
Mar 13 2003: Sunderland striker Marcus
Stewart is a target for West Brom - they
are desperate to increase their firepower and see Stewart
as the answer. With Sunderland needing to sell players
whether relegated or not the Baggies will move
for Stewart either way.
Feb 10 2003: Portsmouth striker, Mark
Burchill, who is currently on loan with Dundee, has
questioned his position with the South Coast club. He is
wondering whether he has a future there - especially now
that he has learned of Birmingham and West Brom's
interest in him. The Scottish international has asked Harry
Redknapp if they can talk about his future when he returns
from Dundee - though it is rumoured that he may well have
already been offered to Dundee permanently.
Feb 5 2003: Herfolge have signed West
Bromwich Albion's 20 year old midfielder Mark Briggs
after a successful trial.
Jan 17 2003: West Brom are in
negotiations with Nuremberg defender, Tony Sanneh. They are
also talking to Spurs about Tim Sherwood.
Jan 15 2003: Ifeanyi Udeze has now been granted a
work permit and so has completed his loan move to West
Bromwich Albion for the rest of the season. The 22
year old Nigerian international left back has lightning pace
and has been compared to Celestine Babayaro by Arsenal-bound
international colleague Joseph
Yobo (see rumours Dec 26 for details of Yobo's move to
the Gunners). He has been loaned to Albion by
Greek side PAOK Salonika.
Jan 12 2003: Roberto Rios has joined West
Bromwich Albion on trial. The 31 year old Spanish
international is a free agent at present, though he was once
Athletic Bilbao's record signing when they paid £7.6m to
but him from Real Betis.
Gary Megson has also admitted he is
trying to bring in Tim Sherwood to strengthen the midfield.
Jan 3 2003: Norwich City defender Darren
Kenton could be joining either Arsenal, Newcastle,
Southampton, Manchester City or West Bromwich Albion
Norwich City winger Paul McVeigh could be
joining Charlton Athletic (rumours from a Canary Fan)
