May 8 2003: Sheffield Wednesday have begun
a squad clearout following relegation. Paul Evans, Ashley
Westwood, Danny Maddix, David Burrows, Trond Egil Soltvedt,
Phil O'Donnell, Simon Donnelly and Tony Crane have all been
released.
May 7 2003: Southend have released Gavin Strachan
after just 6 weeks of playing for the Shrimpers. He will go
on trial at Sheffield Wednesday in the hope of
earning a deal there.
May 6 2003: Sheffield Wednesday's
Player of the Year award has been won by Alan Quinn.
May 1 2003: 36 year old Norwegian Trond-Egil
Soltvedt is to leave Sheffield Wednesday in
the summer.

have released defenders Ryan Green and Calem Connolly.
Mar 28 2003: Big Nigerian striker Efan Ekoku has
signed non contract forms with Brentford, where he has been
training since his release from Sheffield Wednesday
in September.

left back Jon Beswetherick has joined Swindon Town on a
month long loan.

on month long loans - 22 year old Italian striker Michele Di
Piedi of Sheffield Wednesday and 23 year old
Welsh international midfielder Chris Llewellyn of Norwich
City.
Feb 21 2003: Sheffield United have signed Owen
Morrison after Sheffield Wednesday cancelled
his contract. The 21 year old midfielder leaves after
struggling to get into the first team this season.
Wednesday have brought in
31 year old central defender Dean Smith from Leyton Orient.
Feb 13 2003: Jon Beswetherick has been told that
he is free to leave Sheffield Wednesday.
Feb 13 2003: Sheffield Wednesday are
giving a trial to 17 year old Middlesbrough midfielder,
Anthony Shorey.
Feb 3 2003: Sheffield Wednesday are
hoping to make the loan move of Carl Robinson a permanent
move. They are hoping that Portsmouth's strength in midfield
will mean that Harry Redknapp is willing to let the 26 year
old Welsh international leave.
Feb 3 2003: The FA are investigating crowd
disturbances at Bramall Lane during the Sheffield
derby. As it isn't the first game at Bramall Lane to
be marred by crowd trouble (the Worthington Cup games with
Leeds and Crystal Palace both saw crowd trouble) the FA are
likely to come down hard on the Blades if they feel they are
in any way at fault.

have completed the signing of Brian Barry-Murphy from
Preston North End. The 24 year old has signed an 18 month
contract for free, he is equally comfortable at left back or
left midfield.
Jan 30 2003: Sheffield Wednesday
have taken Sunderland striker Michael Reddy on a month's
loan.
Jan 24 2003: Peterborough have signed 31 year old
right back Ian Hendon on a non contract basis. He was
released by Sheffield Wednesday yesterday,
after 3 years with the club.

have released right back Ian Hendon.
Jan 17 2003: Welsh international, Carl Robinson
has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a months
loan from Portsmouth. The 26 year old has 10 caps for his
country and spent 7 years as a Wolves player.
Jan 16 2003: Middlesborough have completed a loan
move for Coventry City's midfielder John Eustace. The 23
year old has joined with a view to a permanent move.
On the other side of the coin, Dean
Windass has left Boro for Sheffield United on a free
transfer. The 33 year old ex Hull, Aberdeen, Oxford United,
Bradford City and Sheffield Wednesday forward
cost Boro £600,000 in March 2001.
Jan 15 2003: Sheffield Wednesday have
completed the free signing of ex-Derby County captain,
Darryl Powell. The 31 year old combative midfielder has
signed an 18 month contract at Hillsborough.
The Jamaican international was released by Birmingham City
earlier this week.
Jan 14 2003: Gerald Sibon has joined SC Herenveen
today from Sheffield Wednesday.
Jan 13 2003: Gerald Sibon is in talks with SC
Herenveen officials over a return to his native Holland. The
lanky striker is one of the most skilful players in the 1st
Division and the Owls 2000/01 Player of the
Year was always going to attract attention.
The ex-Ajax player signed for Wednesday
on the 9th July 1999 and though he struggled in his first
season in the Premiership, he soon got used to English
football and began to score regularly.
