Joined from Bochum in the summer after scoring 21 league goals for them. At the age of 18 Christiansen was a winger for B1983 Copenhagen, when Johan Cruyff invited him to join Barcelona (he has dual Spanish/Danish nationality through his Spanish mother). He struggled to make the team at Barca with Hristo Stoichkov and Romario ahead of him in the pecking order.

He received a shock call up from Javier Clemente's Spanish side to play Mexico. He scored in his second international v Lithuania in 1993. He is now at his fifteenth club, though while at Panionios he failed to receive his wages - it still took the Greek FA 6 months to release him from his contract.
