Former Celtic midfielder Stephen Pearson was rewarded Monday for helping Derby return to the English top flight with a call up to the Scotland squad.
Pearson, who has 6 caps, was named by manager Alex McLeish in his 22 man team for the friendly against visitors South Africa at Pittodrie in Aberdeen on August 22.
"It is a chance for us to look at another midfield whilst at the same time bearing in mind that win is still very important for us," mentioned McLeish.
"We would like to win this game however I have rested some of the senior players and I have got them on a stand-by list should we have any problems."
The 24 year old Pearson's former Motherwell team mate James McFadden is also included inspite of missing Everton's 1st match of the season through injury.
But there is no place for Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam or Kilmarnock forward Steven Naismith following their Scotland debuts in June.
Naismith was named in the U21 team for their clash with the Czech Republic the night before the South Africa game.
However, McLeish urged the young pair to show patience. "If they are disappointed to be left out, they should not be. They only must keep the form they have shown," he said. "It is important we do not rush the young players."

Villa manager Martin O'Neill has dismissed speculation linking Shaun Maloney with a quickfire return to Celtic.
The 24 year old Scotland international joined Villa in January, however struggled to settle and scored once in 8 appearances for the club.
However, O'Neill is adamant that the former Bhoys forward will prove to be a hit at Villa Park in the long run.
He informed the club's official website, "I have been alerted to a story which mentioned that there are advanced negotiations with Celtic about Shaun. That is not true. I have not spoken to Shaun about this. I know he was a bit homesick, however being homesick is one thing and leaving another and he has not intimated to me about leaving. I will speak to him if it is necessary, however Celtic have not been in touch with me about Shaun. It is news to me. I would not really be wanting people to leave the club. However, if people are coming in and demanding that for one reason or another, then we will see. I'll ask the question and if there are genuine reasons for wanting to leave, I'll listen to them. However, if you are talking about Shaun, I have not had that conversation with him."

First half goals from Shaun Maloney and Garry O'Connor gave Scotland a 2-0 win in an evenly fought UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against the Faroes Islands Wednesday.
Maloney opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a well placed free kick that sailed inside the post from 20 metres.
O'Connor increased Scotland's advantage 4 minutes later, stabbing home a rebound from close range after Faroese keeper Jakup Mikkelsen saved his 1st effort.
The Lokomotiv Moscow forward, who returned from international exile last week after having been dropped from the team for failing to show up for a qualifier against Ukraine, also hit the post in the 24th minute.
The Faroese were the more dangerous team in the 2nd half, however were left to rue their bad luck when Christian Holst hit the post in the 70th minute and Andrew av Flotum, alone with keeper Craig Gordon, hit the crossbar in the 89th minute.
