Former Russian international defender Vadim Evseev is to return to the Premier-Liga by joining FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast from FC Torpedo Moskva.

The 31 year old, who scored the play off goal against Wales that had taken Russia to UEFA EURO 2004, will link up with his former captain at FC Lokomotiv Moskva, Dmitri Loskov, who moved to Saturn last month.

Evseev has made 20 appearances for 1st division Torpedo this season. Saturn are 9th in the Premier-Liga with 11 games to go, having climbed 3 points above the relegation zone with their 2-0 defeat of FC Kuban Krasnodar on Saturday.

FC Lokomotiv Moskva's talismanic captain Dmitri Loskov, whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season, has agreed to join FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast for a reported €1.5 million.

The 33 year old midfielder, who has 24 Russia caps, has played in 17 games for Lokomotiv in all competitions this year and is the club's all time record appearance holder as well as their most prolific scorer in the Russian Premier-Liga, with 95 goals from 278 games.

He also helped the Railwaymen to the league title in 2002 and 2004 in addition to 4 Russian Cup victories, most recently in May when a 1-0 extra time defeat of FC Moskva earned qualification for the 2007/2008 UEFA Cup.

However, a dispute with coach Anatoli Byshovets, who had taken over at the close of the 2006 campaign, spelt the starting of the end for Loskov and Lokomotiv, whose president Yuri Semin paid tribute to his 11 years of service.

"We will honour his wishes and interests," he said. "Loskov is a man who has done a lot for Lokomotiv. He was valuable for us, he is valuable for us, and he will be valuable for us in the future."

FC Chornormorets Odesa have named Vitaly Shevchenko as their new coach after Semen Altman's contract with the Ukrainian UEFA Intertoto Cup contenders expired.

Shevchenko returns for a 2nd spell in Ukraine having previously been in charge of FC Metalurh Donetsk, helping them to 3rd place in the 2004/05 Premier League. Shevchenko represented Chornomorets as a player between 1975 and 1981.

Born in Baku, he played for FC Dynamo Kyiv before joining Chornomorets however started his coaching career in Bolivia before returning to Russia to lead FC Rostov, FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast, FC Uralan Elista, FC Torpedo Moskva, FC Uralmash Ekaterinburg, FC Gazovik-Gazprom Tumen and FC Terek Chechenskaya Respublika.

Chornomorets start their UEFA Intertoto Cup campaign in the 2nd round, playing the winners of the 1st round tie between Belarus's FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk and Armenia's FC Ararat Yerevan.

Spartak Moscow gave Stanislav Cherchesov a boost in his coaching debut by triumphing over Saturn Ramenskoye 2-0 in a Russian premier league match Friday.

Austrian international fullback Martin Stranzl headed the home side in front shortly after the interval and Russia forward Roman Pavlyuchenko made amends for missing a penalty in the 1st half by adding a 2nd in the final minute to seal the win.

Former Russia goalie Cherchesov was named Spartak coach Tuesday, replacing Vladimir Fedotov, who was sacked after his team failed to win a game for 5 matches, losing 3 and drawing two.

The win put Spartak top of the table with 23 points from 14 games for at least 2 days.

Champions CSKA Moscow, on 21 points, would regain the lead if they triumph at 5th placed Krylya Sovietov Samara Sunday whilst Zenit St Petersburg, also on 21 points, host struggling Spartak Nalchik.
