Rustu Recber joined Fenerbahce from Antalyaspor in 1993
He took over from Engin Ipekoglu at club and international
level.

Rustu has been Turkey's first choice keeper since 1996
and made his debut against Iceland in October 1994. He joined Barca on a free this summer from Fenerbahce. He won the Turkish League in 1996 and 2001, and is famous for his stripes under his eyes. He wears them to lessen sunglare.

Beşiktaş JK have continued their busy summer of transfers by signing versatile Senegalese international defender Lamine Diatta from AS Saint-Etienne.

The 32 year old, who can play in central defence or at right back, has joined the Istanbul side on a 3 year contract. Diatta has spent his whole career in France however now follows wingers Rodrigo Tello and Mehmet Yozgatlı, Turkish international goalkeepers Rustu Recber and Hakan Arıkan, and midfielder Edouard Cisse to Beşiktaş.

Diatta, whose previous clubs include Stade Rennais FC and Olympique Lyonnais, said, "I am glad to be here. Beşiktaş are a good team and everyone in Europe everybody knows that."

Coach Ertuğrul Sağlam informed uefa.com, "We will benefit from his experience. Diatta is in good shape and we have the option of using him in different defensive positions."

Beşiktaş travel to Moldova's FC Sheriff next Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League 2nd qualifying round holding a 1-0 lead; if they prevail, Diarra maybe eligible to play against FC Zurich in the 3rd qualifying round.

Turkish side Beşiktaş JK sign midfielder Edouard Cisse from French side Paris Saint-Germain FC for €2 million as they are preparing for UEFA Champions League qualifying.

The Super Lig runners up have agreed a 2 year contract with the 29 year old Cisse who was with PSG since leaving his hometown club Pau FC in 1997.

He was loaned out to Stade Rennais FC in the 1998/99 season and The Hammers FC in the 2002/03 campaign.

He moved on to AS Monaco FC on a similar arrangement for the following season as they reached the UEFA Champions League final.

He is Beşiktas's 5th signing of the summer following the arrivals of Rodrigo Tello, Hakan Arikan, Rustu Recber and Mehmet Yozgatli.

They will start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the 2nd qualifying round.

Versatile performer Serkan Balcı has left Fenerbahce SK for Super Lig rivals Trabzonspor as they are preparing for UEFA Intertoto Cup action.

The 23 year old, who joined the Turkish champions from Genclerbirliği SK in 2004, signed a 2 year deal with the Black Sea club. "The club was waiting for a title for 23 years [they last won the league in 1984/85]," he said.

"I came here to win another championship with Trabzonspor. I hope we will be successful this year. Thanks to Fenerbahce for everything in the past. Now it will be a new challenge for me."

Like Fenerbahce team mate Mehmet Yozgatlı, who recently joined Beşiktaş JK, Serkan was generally used as a substitute by Zico however will hope to get more 1st team action under Ziya Doğan, who was also his coach at Genclerbirliği. He can play in either defence or midfield.

Trabzonspor have already signed Adnan Gungör from 2nd division Samsunspor and expect to confirm the arrival of Guinean right back Daouda Jabi from Kayseri Erciyesspor tomorrow.

Trabzonspor's Serbian midfielder Ardijan Djokaj, who was loaned to Ankaraspor AS last season, has agreed terms with German 2nd division club SC Freiburg.

Trabzonspor start their UEFA Intertoto Cup campaign in the 2nd round in July, playing the winners of the 1st round tie between Croatia's NK Zagreb and Albania's KS Vllaznia.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce have given 25 year old goalie Volkan Demirel a new 2 year contract following the departure of Turkey custodian Rustu Recber for Beşiktaş.
