Assistant coach Stephen Frail has mentioned that Hearts are tracking Manchester City goalie Kasper Schmeichel.
When asked about the 21 year old Dane, Frail said, "I heard about that yesterday however I do not know how far down the line it has gone. That is a manager's position or chief exec or owner's job. Whoever comes in then we only get on with it."
Schmeichel impressed on loan at Falkirk last season however has featured in City's pre season matches.
Any new keeper arriving at Tynecastle would revive speculation about Scotland player Craig Gordon moving on.
Sunderland have had an offer for Gordon turned down, whilst Villa were linked with a move for the 24 year old.
However, Frail added, "We are not resigned to losing Craig. Eduardas Kurskis has had an injury so ultimately we only have Craig and Steven Banks. So it might only be a case of looking at the Kurskis thing and thinking we need to bring in someone to work alongside Craig and Steven Banks, because Jamie McDonald is on loan at Queen of the South."
Frail also confirm current understudy to Gordon, Stevie Banks could be his preferred choice to replace Jim Stewart as the goalkeeping coach at the club.
Stewart left Tynecastle earlier this week to join up once again with Rangers.
