Two second-half penalties gave Montenegro a 2-1 friendly win over Hungary in their debut as an independent nation on Saturday.

Watford forward Tamas Priskin gave Hungary a first-minute lead, but AS Roma striker Mirko Vucinic scored one spot kick and won the other converted by Igor Burzanovic to secure victory.

The Adriatic republic was admitted as UEFA′s 53rd full member at the ruling body′s congress in January after splitting from the state union with Serbia last year.

The festive home crowd in Podgorica had little to cheer at the start when Priskin popped up to steer home from close range after an inviting cross from the right.

Montenegro keeper Vukasin Poleksic denied Priskin and strike partner Peter Rajczi several times with a string of superb saves in the first half before the home side regained their composure.

Vucinic levelled in the 64th minute after Milan Purovic was hauled down in the penalty area and his jinking run produced the second spot kick driven in by Burzanovic.

Montenegro coach Zoran Filipovic was delighted.

"It is a fantastic feeling to get off to a winning start. We weren′t at our best but it was the first we played together as a team and this result will certainly boost our confidence," he told Montenegrin television.
