Former Danish international forward Peter Madsen is to return to Brøndby IF after failing to win promotion to the Bundesliga with 1. FC Köln this season.
The 29-year-old striker left Brøndby in 2003, going on to play for VfL Wolfsburg, VfL Bochum 1848, Southampton FC and Köln.
Capped 13 times for Denmark, scoring three goals, he will return to his old club as they seek to fight for the top places in the Superliga next season. They currently lie sixth in the 12-team table.
"The season, which has now almost come to an end, has shown us that we need to reinforce our squad in order to return to the top of Danish football and through our contract with Peter Madsen we are now starting to build a new strong Brøndby team," said Brøndby director Per Bjerregaard. Madsen has signed a five-year contract with the club.
