Paul Robinson started out as a trainee at Darlington but then hit the big time with a £250,000 move to Newcastle United in March 1998. He stayed with the Magpies until Wimbledon bought him for £1.5 million in the summer of 2000 but Robinson struggled to make the breakthrough at first-team level with the Dons and spent time on loan at Burnley, Dundee, Grimsby Town and Carlisle United. Then in March 2003 he moved to Blackpool on a Bosman free.
