Patrice started his career with Paris Saint Germain's youth system. After failing to break into the senior team he moved onto Italy to play for Marsale and Monza.

Evra moved back to France to join OGC Nice in the French 2nd Division. He was a member of the side that gained promotion before a transfer to AS Monaco in September 2002. He was voted France's Young Player of the Year in 2004.

He joined Manchester United in January 2006 for £5.5 million, after a contract dispute with Monaco. Monaco had previously turned a £3.5 million bid from Inter Milan down.
