FIFA will investigate Milan Palenik's transfer after Dundee were bribed for his international clearance.

Palenik joined the Dens Park club from Slovak club Banska Bystrica in the summer however became embroiled in a longrunning battle to kick off his Dens Park career.

It is understood a Slovakian FA official asked the Dark Blues for bribes before they granted the 29 year old defender his allimportant international clearance.

Dundee did all their business by the book throughout the transfer however chief exec Dave MacKinnon last night said irregularities in his dealings with the Slovakians.

That is thought to centre upon rumours from the Eastern Europeans that the player's documents could be faxed as a matter of urgency provided money changed hands, with sums ranging from £100 to £3000 being mentioned to Dundee and Palenik's representatives.

Dundee refused point-blank so were forced to wait nearly 4 weeks for the necessary paperwork which ought to have been completed within a matter of hours. That meant Palenik missed the 2-0 opening day triumph at Livingston before in the end receiving his clearance to play in Tuesday's CIS Cup triumph over Morton.

Falkirk chalked up win over one of European football's good names as Ajax were on the wrong end of a surprise 2-1 result.

Chris Mitchell's winner in the 86th minute rocked the Dutch giants at the Falkirk Stadium as the home side went one better than Rangers, who held Ajax 1-1 Tuesday at Ibrox.

Laurent Delorge had brought 4 time European champions Ajax back onto level terms after Liam Craig headed Falkirk ahead.

The Ajax line up included Wesley Sneijder, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and former Charlton winger Dennis Rommedahl.

But youth team player Mitchell's strike, courtesy of a deflection, allowed Clydesdale Bank Premier League side Falkirk to savour a memorable win.

St Mirren beat Morton 1-0 to remain in possession of the Renfrewshire Cup. The game's only goal came from Mark Corcoran as the Buddies made their top flight class count.

Gretna sent out 2 different sides, and even though one posted a 5-1 win at Whitby, the SPL newcomers were also beaten 2-1 at Ayr.

Inverness were 2-1 winners at Ross County where the hosts snatched a 33rd minute lead when Andrew Barrowman's shot had taken a touch off Inverness captain Grant Munro on its way into the net.

Caley Thistle equalised in the 69th minute when Munro pounced to score from close range after the Ross defence failed to clear John Rankin's corner.

Another Rankin corner produced the winner 3 minutes later as Stuart McCaffrey volleyed home.

Rangers goalie Lee Robinson has agreed to join Morton on loan for the coming season.

The First Division newcomers moved for the 21 year old as they needed competition to David McGurn after the departure of Paul Mathers.

Morton manager Jim McInally informed his club website, "Lee would like to be playing constantly and Walter Smith cannot promise him that this season. So he is really keen to come here and show what he can do."

Robinson has made only one appearance for Rangers' 1st team, being a late replacement for the injured Ronald Waterreus against Hearts in May 2006.
