South Korea beat Iran 4-2 on penalties to reached the Asian Cup semi-finals after a gruelling goalless draw.
Kim Jung-woo scored the winning spot-kick to send the inexperienced Koreans through to meet Iraq at the Bukit Jalil Stadium Wednesday.
Iran's Mehdi Mahdavikia and Rassoul Khatibi missed their spot-kicks, whilst Kim Do-heon failed for the Koreans.
Iran used substitute goalie Vahid Taliblou for the shoot-out, replacing Hassan Roudbarian in the 119th minute.
However, Pim Verbeek's players had the cooler heads in the shoot-out, sending their more than 4,000 vocal Korean supporters into ecstasy.
The win avenged Korea's 4-3 quarter-final loss at the hands of Iran at the 2004 Asian Cup in China.
