Scotland striker Garry O′Connor celebrated his return from international exile on Wednesday by scoring the only goal in his side′s 1-0 friendly win away to Austria.
The Lokomotiv Moscow forward, dropped from the Scotland squad after failing to show up for last October′s UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against Ukraine, fired the visitors in front with a low left-footed strike after turning two Austrian defenders in the 59th minute.
Austria were unfortunate not to snatch a draw when Markus Katzer headed onto the Scottish crossbar from an injury time corner.
Scotland are joint leaders of EURO 2008 qualifying group B along with Ukraine and France, both of whom have played one game less, and were using Wednesday′s friendly as preparation for next week′s visit to the group′s bottom side the Faroe Islands.
Austria have already qualified for EURO 2008 as tournament co-hosts along with neighbouring Switzerland.
