West Bromwich Albion sign Marseille centre half Bostjan Cesar on a season long loan deal, with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 25 year old Slovenia international, who has won 24 caps, joins fellow countryman Robert Koren at the club.
Boss Tony Mowbray informed the club's website, "Bostjan is a left sided centre half and a real competitor. What I like about him is that he has natural defensive instincts. He's a defender's defender."
Mowbray added, "He's a regular alongside Robert in the Slovenian national team and has played for some substantial clubs."
The Baggies have already signed centre-backs Leon Barnett and Shelton Martis in the summer.
Cesar will be eligible for Saturday's friendly with visiting Heerenveen if international clearance is granted in time.

Marseille defender Bostjan Cesar has agreed a deal to join West Bromwich Albion.
According to French sources, Baggies manager Tony Mowbray has beat everyone for the highly rated Slovenian as he continues to strengthen for the new season.
It is reported that Cesar will initially come to The Hawthorns on loan, however West Bromwich Albion have the option to buy him for a fee in the region of €1 million (£700,000).
The 25 year old centre back made only 7 appearances for Marseille last season and was allowed to go out for a new challenge.
Mowbray has already brought in defenders Leon Barnett and Tininho this season, even though Paul McShane has left for Sunderland.

West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of defender Leon Barnett from Luton for an initial £2.5 million.
The 21 year old's transfer fee would in the end rise to £3 million and he signed a 4 year contract with the option of an extra year in the club's favour.
"He possesses outstanding physical attributes," Albion manager Tony Mowbray informed his club's official website wba.co.uk.
"We have brought in raw possible and there are parts of his game he needs to develop. However, we are looking forward to helping him improve over the next few years, and hopefully seeing Leon play his part in the future success of the club."

Luton Town have said they have agreed to sell Leon Barnett to West Brom.
The Hatters have had taken West Brom's offer for the 21 year old defender and the move is now subject to Barnett agreeing personal terms and passing a medical at The Hawthorns.
The deal would in the end be worth up to £3 million pounds for Luton as they are preparing for life in League One.
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray is keen to add Barnett, who was also linked with a transfer to Reading, to his team ahead of the new season as he is looking to build a side capable of saying that promotion to the Premier League.
The Baggies suffered a 1-0 Championship play off final defeat to Derby last season and Mowbray is looking to go one step further and reached the top flight in the next campaign.
Barnett joined Luton as a trainee in 2002 and has since made 60 1st team starts.
