Crewe have agreed terms to loan Charlton forward Chris Dickson, whilst they are continuing to chase Spurs forward Lee Barnard.
Twenty-two year old Dickson expects to put pen to paper before Alexandra's trip to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Crewe technical director Dario Gradi was left to reflect on a 3-0 Carling Cup defeat at the hands of visiting Hull.
He said, "We were not too disappointed with the display because we had 3 forwards up there with about 3 games between them and we still made some chances. We have got a lot to work on however we were not all at sea and we played some decent football."

Crewe will today attempt to sign Spurs star Lee Barnard on loan for 6 months after suffering an injury to forward Nicky Maynard.
The Alex forward will be out for a few months after limping out of the 2-1 triumph over Brighton at Gresty Road in the 25th minute on Saturday.
Crewe were linked with a move for Barnard, a free scorer in Tottenham's reserves, all summer and technical director Dario Gradi said, "Maynard will be out for months so our priority is to get 2 forwards in. We would like one forward however now it is two, the chairman will have a fit."
