Kieron Dyer Rumours and Transfers
17 08 2007
Kieron Dyer thinks that Newcastle United have the right man in charge in Sam Allardyce, inspite of the midfielder having exited the club to join The Hammers.
Dyer has in the end sealed his transfer to be closer to his family, having spent 8 years with the Magpies, however the England schemer thinks that former Bolton Wanderers manager Allardyce will prove to be a success on Tyneside.
He informed The Journal, "As far as I am concerned, Sam Allardyce is the right manager for Newcastle and I hope he gets the time and the money to build something special. He certainly has the right ideas, however he needs to be backed by everyone. In the short time I was there with him you would see the positive impact Sam was having, not only in terms of the 1st team, however behind the scenes as well. I got on well with him, however the time was right to move. I was not happy and I would like to be back home in Ipswich. The thing that attracted me to The Hammers was their ambition, as well as the fact I'd be nearer my family. They sign players with a point to prove and maybe I am one of them."

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce says he has no intention of allowing Nolberto Solano to leave St James' Park, despite widespread reports the Peruvian would like to transfer to London.
Solano's family currently reside in the capital and he is known to be keen on leaving the North East in order to join them.
The Hammers are thought to be strong suitors of the gifted wide man however Allardyce is loath to sanction his departure, especially given that fact he has only only sold Kieron Dyer to the same club.
"Nobby has talked about his family situation and that is obviously something we must try and resolve," mentioned Allardyce.
"But at the moment, unlike Kieron, where The Hammers have come in with a big offer, nobody has come in for Nobby. So he stays with us and he really is not someone I would would like to lose."
Earlier Thursday, Dyer completed his transfer to The Hammers and now the deal was done, Allardyce was quick to pass on his best wishes.
"The issue is now over and from the club's point of view and Kieron's point of view it is a satisfying result. We have all got what we would like and we move on and I wish him all the best. I hope he has a successful career from now on and of course he is closer now to his family."

Kieron Dyer has completed his move from Newcastle to The Hammers after the 2 clubs reached an agreement.
The England midfielder had looked set to join The Hammers earlier this month after announcing he would like to leave St James' Park to be closer to his family.
The transfer fell through at the last minute when Newcastle changed their valuation of the player, forcing The Hammers to reconsider.
The 2 clubs have now settled on a fee, thought to be in the region of £8 million, leaving Dyer available to make his The Hammers debut against Birmingham on Saturday.
He will be reunited at Upton Park with a number of former Newcastle team-mates.
Dyer did not feature in Newcastle's 3-1 win at Bolton on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Kieron Dyer's on off move from Newcastle to The Hammers has in the end been concluded after the 2 sides agreed terms.
The England midfielder, who was keen to leave St James' Park to be closer to his family, looked like he has missed out on the chance to join the Hammers when the deal stalled earlier this month.
The Hammers had agreed a fee for the 28 year old, who can play across the midfield or as a support striker, however the deal hit the buffers when the Magpies decided to up their valuation of the player from around £6 million to nearer £8 million.

Jim Magilton is set for a windfall in the transfer market as Kieron Dyer is close to wrapping up a £7 million move to West Ham.
Town have a sell-on clause in the former Ipswich star's contract which entitles them to 20 per cent of any profit Newcastle make over and above the £6 million they paid for Dyer back in 1999.
Newcastle are looking for £8 million from the Hammers and if they get it then Ipswich will be due the best part of £400,000, even though it will not come all in one lump sum.

Kieron Dyer held talks with The Hammers yesterday after Newcastle in the end had taken the club's £6 million bid for the midfielder.
Dyer expects to join The Hammers last week however Newcastle pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.
Boss Alan Curbishley revived the deal Monday and the England international expects to transfer to Upton Park after negotiations continued with the player and Newcastle, who hope for £2 million more based on appearances.
Portsmouth now appear unlikely to pursue their bid to sign Newcastle winger Nolberto Solano.
The Peruvian is keen to move closer to his family in London however the resurrection of Dyer's transfer to The Hammers has ruled out a move to Upton Park.
Solano, 32, attracted interest from Spain however has vowed to remain at St James' Park if he cannot get a transfer to a Premier League club in the south.

The Hammers chairman Eggert Magnusson has blasted Newcastle United over the collapse of England midfielder Kieron Dyer's proposed transfer to Upton Park.
The 28 year old was poised to seal a £6 million switch after agreeing personal terms with the Hammers and passing a medical, before the Magpies upped the price for Dyer by a further £2 million.
Magnusson fumed, "The fact that Newcastle moved the goalposts in the middle of the game is not how to do business. They had given us permission to speak to the player, he has had a medical and we had agreed a fee when we received a phone call that they would like £2 million more for the player. We would not think it, however I think the deal is now gone. I feel very sorry for the player, he would like a move, he would like to come closer to his family in Ipswich and now that has gone. I think this business with Newcastle has shown that we are not prepared to pay any price that a club puts on a player. If there are perceptions that we will do that, they are not correct."

The Hammers manager Alan Curbishley says that the club have held talks with Derby over the signing of Giles Barnes.
Curbishley also refused to completely rule out that possibility of resurrecting the Kieron Dyer deal which collapsed last week.
Barnes is one of the most sought after young players in England and played a huge part in helping Derby to the Premier League.
After seeing the Rams promoted, it was expects that Barnes would stay put at Pride Park.
However, Curbishley has now said that The Hammers were talking with Derby about a probable deal for 19 year old, who was actually born in East London.
"We were looking at the situation and we have spoken to Derby about it," Curbishley said to Sky Sports News.
The Hammers manager said that the 2 clubs cannot agree a fee for Barnes.
"At the moment nothing is happening, their valuation is not where we are at and he is a Derby player so I should not be talking too much about it."
Curbishley did admit that he would revive his interest in Dyer, after Newcastle pulled the plug on the deal last week.
"It is a difficult situation, lets only said we found it very difficult so we must see what happens and unfortunately Kieron Dyer is stuck in the middle and we must see what happens."
Hammers chairman Eggert Magnusson has again vented his again at Newcastle, who asked for an extra £2 million for Dyer, after a deal for £6 million was struck.
"The fact that Newcastle moved the goalposts in the middle of the game is not how to do business," he said.
"They had given us permission to speak to the player, he has had a medical and we had agreed a fee when we received a phone call that they would like £2 million more for the player."
Magnusson himself does not see how the Dyer deal maybe resurrected.
"We would not think it. However, I think the deal is now gone and I feel very sorry for the player, he would like a move, he would like to come closer to his family in Ipswich and now that has gone," he added.
"I think this business with Newcastle has shown that we are not prepared to pay any price that a club puts on a player. If there are perceptions that we will do that, they are not correct."

Unsettled Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer is back on Tyneside.
Contrary to reports that he was staying in his hometown, Ipswich, Dyer returned to the Northeast yesterday after the collapse of his transfer to The Hammers last Friday.
Dyer's future remains uncertain, with the Magpies hoping The Hammers revive their interest in the England international after pulling out of the deal Friday when Newcastle increased their asking price from £6 million to £8 million.

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce said that Kieron Dyer's transfer to The Hammers collapsed after the Hammers refused to pay an "escalated" fee of £8 million.
The Magpies had had taken a bid of £6 million for the player however increased the amount they would like for the 28 year old to a fee thought to be in the region of £8 million.
"In the end, we decided Kieron was undervalued," mentioned Allardyce.
"We escalated the valuation to what we thought was realistic and The Hammers did not want to roll with it."
Dyer had agreed personal terms and passed a medical at the London club.
But The Hammers manager Alan Curbishley mentioned on Saturday that the deal "was pulled at the 11th hour by Newcastle and there is not much we can do about that".
Newcastle's re-evaluation of Dyer angered Curbishley, who mentioned on Saturday that the transfer was "definitely off".
But Allardyce mentioned he was "more upset" than The Hammers about the collapse of the deal.
"Why? That is confidential," added Allardyce. "Kieron is back with us, a top player with a team who are growing. Would it be difficult for Kieron? It is life, is not it? He has got a contract. You sign it. The length of the contract means you are employed by an employer, something happens, it does not work, you come back and get on with it. If anything else happens in terms of The Hammers increasing their offer, then great. If they do not then clearly they do not value him as highly as we do."
