A product of the Wolverhampton Wanderers Youth Academy, up until he joined Everton in June 2006 Joleon had spent his entire career with Wolves. Joleon has an older brother (Aaron) who is also a professional footballer.

Lescott signed for Wolves in August 1999 as a trainee and made his debut at the age of 17 on 13th August 2000 against Sheffield Wednesday at Molineux.

Joleon won the Supporters' Young Player of the Year at the end of the season and retained it the following season (2001/2 and 2002/3).

Lescott played a big part as Wolves won promotion to the English Premier League at the end of the 2003/4 season, unfortunately immediately after the play off win he had to undergo surgery on both knees which ruled him out for the entire season.

By the time Joleon was back the club were back down in the Championship after badly missing his defensive abilities. Lescott recovered from the surgery to win back his place at the heart of the Wolves' defence.

With Wolves unable to win promotion back to the Premiership, Joleon accepted a transfer to Everton for a fee which could reach over ?5 million dependent on appearances. The deal was held up because Everton wanted an extra-strenous medical to check on the state of his knees.
