Jermain Jenas is an exciting young midfielder was bought from Nottingham Forest for m. He won last season's PFA Young Player of the Year award despite the presence of a certain Mr. Rooney and became a full England international. He joined Forest on schoolboy forms at the age of 11 and made his first team debut at the age of 17 against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup on January 1 2001. He made his league debut against Crystal Palace a week later.
Jenas signed for Newcastle on February 4 2002 after 33 1st team appearances and 4 goals, becoming the second most expensive teenager (after Robbie Keane's move to Coventry from Wolves in 1999). In the 2002-3 season he won 7 England U21 caps and 2 full England caps. His dad, Dennis Genas (not a spelling mistake -Dennis changed the spelling of his surname because he thought it would be 'cool' to be known as DJ at school. He spelt it with a J on Jermaine's birth certificate, but later when he remarried in the States he was told he had to use his real name and so he went back to Genas), was a talented footballer on the non-league circuit.
Jermaine captained Forest aged only 18 in a match against
Watford and made his Newcastle debut in the Tyne-Wear derby
against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. He made his England debut v Australia at Upton Park and won the award for England's Man of the Match. Jermain Jenas is now at Tottenham Hotspur
