He became the second youngest player ever to appear in the English Premiership when he made his bow for Leeds United at the age of sixteen and 309 days. Milner became the youngest ever English Premier League goal scorer with Leeds' equaliser in the 2-1 Boxing Day win at Sunderland just nine days short of his 17th birthday. The previous holder of this record being Wayne Rooney who scored his first English Premiership goal against Arsenal on 19 October 2002
