AJ Auxerre′s Issa Ba has been ruled out for six months after suffering torn cruciate ligaments in his right knee.
The club revealed the Senegalese midfielder was hurt during Saturday′s goalless draw against FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
The 25-year-old will undergo surgery next week having played in 20 games in his first season in Ligue 1 since joining Auxerre from LB Châteauroux in the summer.
Auxerre are tenth in Ligue 1 but still have a chance of claiming at least a UEFA Cup place as they are just two points adrift of fifth-placed Olympique de Marseille.
