Getafe defender Alexis has confirmed that he has signed a six-year contract to join Valencia when the season ends.
The 21-year-old centre back was widely expected to seal his transfer to Los Che and is a ready-made replacement for departing stopper Roberto Ayala, who joins Villarreal.
Alexis, however, is reluctant to be compared with the Argentina legend and refused to comment on why he turned down another potential suitor, Real Madrid.
"Ayala is Ayala and I am me," he said. "Valencia have monitored me for a couple of years now and they are a club with an excellent reputation. Many people have recommended that I come here and I believe it is a good decision."
The Spain international reserved words of praise for his outgoing club, adding that the current term was not yet over and that he and the Madrid side were looking forward to the Copa del Rey final against Sevilla.
"I only want to finish this season with success at Getafe," continued the former Malaga player before adding that his young friends in the Spain national team - Raul Albiol, Jaime Gavilan and David Silva - encouraged him to make the switch.
