A free kick specialist, this Eire international left back lacks pace but has a wonderful left foot which makes it very difficult for managers to leave him out of the side - though he did miss a penalty in normal time against Spain in the 2002 World Cup which led to the match going to a penalty shootout which Ireland lost.

Ian Harte Rumours and Transfers

14 08 2007

Ian Harte has agreed to have his contract rescinded at Levante after being informed that he was not part of the club's plans for the new season.

The Republic of Ireland international was keen to remain at the Spanish outfit, however was informed by coach Abel Resino that he was a long way down the pecking order.

Inspite of having a year left on his current deal, Harte has opted to leave on a free transfer in order to find a new team before the start of the campaign.

Reports have suggested that Celtic registered their interest in the left back earlier in the summer, however no concrete offer was made by the Scottish club.

Harte joined Levante from Leeds United in 2004 and after an inconsistent 1st term, became a local favourite as he helped the club to promotion in his 2nd year.

Last season he missed a number of games through injury and Resino has now decided to bring in his own players and has informed Harte he is not wanted.
