Malta coach Dusan Fitzel has named a 24-man squad for the UEFA EURO 2008T qualifiers at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina on 2 September and against Turkey in Frankfurt four days later.

Maltese champions Birkirkara FC lifted the Super Cup for the fifth consecutive year with a dramatic 2-1 victory against Maltese Cup holders Hibernians FC in the annual season curtain-raiser.
Despite being reduced to ten men after debutant goalkeeper Sean Sullivan was dismissed ten minutes from time, the title-holders edged the contest when George Mallia scrambled in the winner with only a minute remaining.
With both teams missing key players, Birkirkara made the better start by taking the lead through Matthew Calascione on the stroke of half-time. However, Hibernians improved after the break and it was no surprise when the impressive Chuckunyere Ndubisi gave a pass to Pablo Doffo to beat Sullivan with aplomb.
To compound matters for Birkirkara, Sullivan was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Calascione but the champions rallied, Mallia tapping in the deciding goal from close range after efforts from Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza and Angelo Paradiso had been blocked.
