Slovakia international midfielder Vratislav Gresko is to return to Bayer 04 Leverkusen as a free agent as the German club are preparing for UEFA Cup football.
The 29 year old signed a 2 year contract Monday as he returns to the club he played for between 1999 and 2001.
"We are pleased to be signing Gresko, who fits our system. Since we will be playing in Europe, we require a large squad," explained Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler, whose side will start their UEFA Cup campaign in the 1st round.
After leaving Leverkusen in the 2000/01 season, Gresko spent a season and a half with FC Inter Milano and briefly joined Parma FC before moving to Premier League side Blackburn Rovers FC during the 2002/03 season.
He made 40 English top tier appearances in 3 and a half seasons at Ewood Park and joined 1. FC Nurnberg last season, playing 15 games and scoring once. Leverkusen have already brought in Theofanis Gekas, Lukas Sinkiewicz, Hans Sarpei, Sascha Dum and Manuel Feridrich.
