Hannover 96 are off the mark after spoiling Karlsruher SC's 1st home game back in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 comeback win.
Karlsruhe, 1st in last season's 2. Bundesliga, won 2-0 at 1. FC Nurnberg last Sunday to open their campaign and were ahead tonight in the 37th minute when Tamas Hajnal's free kick from the right was headed in by Maik Franz.
Early in the 2nd half Hannover, beaten at home last week by Hamburger SV, were level in identical fashion, Mike Hanke the man rising to score from Arnold Bruggink's crossed set-piece.
The game was settled with 15 minutes left as Hanno Balitsch produced a ferocious finish from the edge of the box, a boost for Hannover who did not come from behind to win once last term.
The 2nd round of 2007/2008 fixtures continue throughout the weekend.
