Uruguay striker Abella Gonzalo Vargas has signed a five-year contract with Monaco, the French first division side announced on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Vargas netted 27 goals in 35 matches for Argentine side Gimnasia de La Plata last season.
Monaco, who have money after shipping out centreback Sebastien Squillaci to French champions Lyon, are also reportedly at an advanced stage in their negotiations to secure Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure from Greek outfit Olympiakos.
