New Tottenham head coach Juande Ramos hopes to bring Sevilla duo Daniel Alves and Fredi Kanoute to White Hart Lane.

The 53-year-old left Sevilla on Friday and was installed as Martin Jol's successor by Spurs 24 hours later.

Kanoute left Spurs and signed for the Spanish side just over two years ago and the 30-year-old has played a key role in the club's recent success - finishing third in La Liga last term and winning the UEFA Cup in each of the last two seasons.

Alves was linked with a big-money move to Chelsea in the summer but may prefer to be reunited with Ramos in north London.

Ramos was quoted in the News of the World as saying: "I'd like to sign Alves and Kanoute. These two players would be sensational for any club in the world but I'm not sure if Sevilla will accept it."

Ramos may also raid his former club for goalkeeper Andres Palop and defender Julien Escude.

Stoke have confirmed striker Mamady Sidibe is now back at the club receiving treatment after being attacked by fans while representing Mali at the weekend, although the severity of his injuries remain unclear.

Sidibe and international team-mate Fredi Kanoute were both caught up in crowd disturbances as Mali secured qualification for next year's African Nations Cup with a 2-0 win against Togo in Lome.

Angry home supporters invaded the pitch and targeted several players - including Sidibe and former Tottenham and West Ham star Kanoute - after the final whistle at the Kegue Stadium.

The 27-year-old reported back for training at the Britannia Stadium on Monday but the exact details of the arm injury he sustained are not yet known.

"Although we do not yet have full information on what took place in Togo, everyone will agree that no-one wants to see this type of thing happening," said City's chief executive Tony Scholes.

"Obviously our concerns are with Mama and the hope that the injury is not too serious. Our responsibility however is to protect our club and its players, and we will be making representations to the appropriate authorities."

Sidibe has yet to score for Stoke - who play host to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend - this season but has featured heavily under manager Tony Pulis.

Sevilla coach Juande Ramos refused to get too carried away after seeing his side end a run of four straight defeats with a 4-2 Champions League success over Slavia Prague.

Goals from Fredi Kanoute, Luis Fabiano, Julien Escude and Arouna Kone gave Sevilla a much-needed boost, but Ramos was cautious about his side's future in the competition.

He told UEFA.com: "Qualification isn't clear. There are four teams in the group and Slavia and Steaua will fight. It's true Steaua will have more difficulties to progress because they have only one point, but our match against Steaua won't be easy because mathematically they could still progress to the next round. I'm very happy with the three points, which are very important for our progress. The result was different from our recent ones but we played exactly the same tactics. The only difference was that we found the way to score."
