Henrik Pedersen is training with Hull City this week as the former Danish international continues his attempts to secure a contract with the Championship club.
The 32 year old forward is having to prove his fitness after being dogged at Bolton Wanderers last season by a troublesome Achilles injury.
Pedersen underwent tests at Hull last month and after a short spell back in Denmark continuing his rehabilitation from the injury, he has now returned to Yorkshire.
City chairman Paul Duffen said, "Henrik came over Monday to allow Phil (Brown) and the lads to take a proper look at him over several days. I am informed it was a case of so far, so good. We will only must see how the rest of the week develops."
Hull manager Brown was scouring the market for forwards throughout the summer in an attempt to increase his squad.
A club record £550,000 fee was agreed with Sheffield United for Christian Nade only for the deal to break down at the 11th hour, whilst the attempt to lure Alan Lee away to the KC Stadium finished when the Ipswich Town forward signed a new contract.
Richard Cresswell was another to interest Brown, however after a £300,000 fee was agreed, concerns over the results of the Leeds man's medical saw Hull decide not to go ahead with the deal and allow Stoke City to nip in.
Pedersen's arrival would bring the Tigers' forward tally to five, however with Michael Bridges, Nick Barmby and Stephen McPhee having all missed large chunks of last season through injury it means 38 year old Dean Windass must shoulder a heavy burden.
It is why Brown is still keen to add to his team before the end of this month's transfer window with a forward and defender, Derby's Michael Johnson the latest to be linked, thought to be the priority.
Chairman Duffen confirmed, "Phil has added some real quality to the team however we are still looking for a couple more players and, hopefully, that will happen in due course."
Efforts were made to bring in 2 highly-promising strikers, Newcastle's Andy Carroll and Man Utd's Fraizer Campbell, on loan however it is thought these were turned down.
Carroll is also, as stated by reports in the North East, interesting Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws.
