In 1995 David Trezeguet went to play for AS Monaco. At Monaco Trezeguet was part of a
young team with some promising players including Thierry Henry,
one David's best friends. However Trezeguet was not happy with coach Tigana but after the victories with Monaco
he had no more thoughts of leaving Monaco.
At Monaco David decided to change his nationality from Argentinian to French so Trezeguet could play in the French Under 18's
. In his first friendly game Trezeguet scored twice
His career grew from this and he won his first title in 1996 with the Under 18 french squad and that team
celebrated the European Championchip in 1997/98. David scored 18 goals in 27 games and in the Champions League scored 4 goals in 9 games. Monaco got to the semi-finals,
but were stopped by Juventus. In 1998 Trezeguet won the World Championchip with France with Trezeguet
playing every game except the final. In the following years Trezeguet scored 12 goals and
then an amazing 22 goals in only 20 games. With Monaco Trezeguet won the French
Championschip.
Then Trezeguet went to Euro 2000 in the. In the final David came on the pitch towards the end of the match and scored the
Golden Goal which made France the European Champions. After
this Trezeguet changed club and was off to Juventus. To begin with at Juve, Trezeguet had a strong competition with Del Piero,
Inzaghi and Kovacevic and also picked up an ankle injury. But the next year David played every game, as Inzaghi and Kovacevic had left
Juventus. Trezeguet scored 24 goals for Juve to gain the Scudetto and also picked up the
Serie A top scorer trophy aswell.
David defended the Scudetto with Juventus and in 17 games scored 9 goals, but he had problems with his ankle again. In the
Champions League Juventus came into the final but lost out to Milan and Trezeguet missed his penalty in the penalty
shoot-out
