Fifa made sure of brazil win to avert widespread rioting in brazil,. likely to have occurred after a croatia win. Which they may well have got. On that showing if brazil are one of the favourites then looks like they are banking on the refs to get them through.

Really pleased the Ox will be fit for our second match, great news for player and country alike.
Club bias aside he along with one or two others has what it takes to be the difference in tight games

Seeing as we are not allowed to post our opinions on the World Cup on our teams site. I would like to ask all you Manchester United fans on your feeling as to how you think Rooney has been playing for England in the last couple of years and up to the recent friendlies. Personally I think he has been dire. I would be over the moon to see England do well. But the way Rooney has been playing I even for United, would have left him in England to be honest.

World Cup 2014 Group Stage Preview

Group A
1. Brazil
2. Croatia
3. Mexico
4. Cameroon

Brazil as hosts are expected to win this group and for me they will, it's 2nd place for the rest of the teams will be interesting to see I'm going for Croatia just think they have the edge with the likes of Modric, Rakitic and Mandzukic in their side despite being inconsistent in their qualifying, Mexico without Vela yet again for a major tournament with his decision to retire from International football he would have certainly given Mexico more of a chance, I don't see Cameroon causing any problems although I wouldn't rule them out 2nd place could come down to goal difference or just the 1pt.

Group B
1. Spain
2. Holland
3. Chile
4. Australia

Current World Champions Spain should have enough of them to qualify from this group I think they will and finish top of it, 2nd place will come down to the last game of the group as Holland face Chile and I think the Dutch will win that match but I must say as good as their attack is as many people expect their defence is quite young and inexperienced and I wonder if Van Gaal's mind is on the Utd job already and if he regrets the decision not to call the likes of Van Der Wiel, Heitinga and Stekelenburg with that experience they have, Strootman and Van Der Vaart will be big misses also for me, very impressed with this Chile team went to Wembley beat England convincingly for me they have the likes of Vidal, Sanchez, Vargas all very good players just think defence could be a problem for them and Australia will struggle to get anything from these matches.

Group C
1. Colombia
2. Ivory Coast
3. Japan
4. Greece

Many people saying this is the weakest group in this World Cup I don't agree just the teams in it are underrated amongst journalists etc, Colombia to top the group whether Falcao is fit to play or not as they have so much attacking players in their squad with Guarin, Cuadrado, Muriel etc certainly a team to watch in the Knockout rounds IMO, the last 2 World Cups have seen Ivory Coast in Groups of Death and it's good to see them in a decent group in which they should qualify ahead of Japan with the likes of Drogba, Toure, Gervinho much is expected of them so they will finish 2nd for me ahead of Japan a team I was really impressed with them at the Confederations Cup especially their performance against the Italians a organised team with some good individuals just don't think they have enough attacking players to reach the 2nd round but should finish ahead of Greece who yet again qualify for a Major Tournament average team in my eyes who simply don't score enough goals.

Group D

1. Italy
2. England
3. Uruguay
4. Costa Rica

I think everybody would agree that this is the Group of Death and predicating who will qualify without being biased to your nation is impossible, For me this group will be settled by goal difference I could easily see all 3 teams finishing on 5pts should they win their games against Costa Rice I think Italy and Uruguay have the edge having played in these conditions last summer for the Confederations Cup however Hodgson has this England team very organised and with the inclusion of a lot of young players to start or come off the bench they edge ahead of Uruguay for me who without Suarez will be a miss even at 50% it won't be good enough, England vs Italy will be a crucial game if theirs a winner I can guarantee that they will qualify especially if the Italians win having to face Costa Rica in the 2nd game this how I see it the group unfolding.

Group E

1. France
2. Switzerland
3. Ecuador
4. Honduras

For me Group E and Group F are the weakest just depends how much football you've seen of the teams involved, France a squad with very talented players with the likes of Pogba, Ribery, Benzema however most tournaments with them theirs a drama to it player power egos in the dressing room and as seen at the World Cup 2010 it can split the squad apart this time round France have seemed to sort out their issues and added to their squad some very good young players mixed with the experience of Lloris, Evra, Ribery the shock exclusion of Nasri means nothing if Pogba is playing and on form I expect the French to top the group with ease and with that 2nd place is easier to predict for me Switzerland will advance experienced manager, players and mixed with youth a very good team and as seen at previous World Cup can beat the big teams like they did to Spain in the opening game, don't think Ecuador have enough goals in them to trouble the Swiss for 2nd and Honduras will just be there to show up.

Group F

1. Argentina
2. Nigeria
3. Bosnia
4. Iran

Like Group E straight forward to who's winning the group and kinda in predicting who will finish 2nd. Argentina one of the favourites the best attack at this tournament IMO I'm just looking at defence looks good but let's see how good this team is when facing a team like the Germans, Spanish etc, I've gone for Nigeria to finish 2nd as having won the African Nations Cup the morale must be high in the dressing room no better first game then to face Iran and it's just about getting a positive result against Bosnia which I think they will do, Bosnia facing Argentina first game does not help them some very good players in their squad just think won't have enough to win 2 games on the bounce after their 1st game, Iran for me won't cause any problems for any of these teams just here to have a good time.

Group G

1. Germany
2. Portugal
3. Ghana
4. USA

Like England's group a very tough group to call despite Germany and Portugal being in it, USA seems to be getting stronger with every tournament played in and Ghana have some very good players in their squad, I could easily see 1st and 2nd being confirmed on the last matches of the group and goal difference certainly being a possibility, This German team is the strongest I've seen in years but question marks are raised over their defence and striker positions but I think they should have enough to qualify followed by Portugal just think players like Ronaldo, Coentrao, Pepe will be on a high after winning the Champions League and theirs more to this team then just these 3 like Meireles, Moutinho and Nani all 3 are very good players when on form, Ghana are a good team and just like the USA will frustrate both Portugal and Germany just cannot see them getting a victory over either team same goes for the USA both improved but both going out for me in the groups.

Group H

1. Belgium
2. Russia
3. South Korea
4. Algeria

Will we see the Belgians with this potential World Class team they have go onto have a successful World Cup? I'd like to think that they will with so much media buzz about them as potential dark horses for it I expect them to qualify finishing 1st, a Russian team managed my Capello will frustrate many teams in this group and when they are the knockout rounds, South Korea a very organised team will just miss out for me aswell as Algeria who are very negative team last time I watched them play.

Which 2 teams do you think will qualify from each group?

England team vs Italy imo 4-2-3-1
Hart
Johnson
Jags
Cahill
Baines
Gerrard wilshire
Sturridge barkley lallana
Rooney

Rooney should play up top because least sturridge can beat a man when playing in the 3 behind striker
Maybe swap sterling for barkley. Plus lampard cpuld be vital in last 15 mins steadying ship.

In my humble opinion we will miss Ashley Cole. Baines is not near his ability. Johnson is a laibility waiting to happen. Agaisnt Peru, Sturridge and Gerrard were our only world class players until Sterling arrived. Wellbeck did not have a good season with United and Rooney is once more not at his best so what does Hodgson do?. Chamberlain will also add something to the side as maybe Stone Wiltshire and Barclay but Roy will not gamble. Does anyone out them think we will progress throught the first round. I predict a goaless draw against Italy and then face Suarez!
Ed looking forward to the WORLD CUP correct store competition
