Andrew Davies contract from the solicitor dealing with the bradford city contracts:

Davies is currently earning £2900 p.w bradford city have offered Davies £1200p.w with an additional £2300 per appearance meaning if he stays fit he will earn more per week next season then he did the one just gone.

Additionally there are a few other minor bonuses but these will be offered the same as last year.

the sticking point is davies wants in his contract to earn the higher amount if he is fit to play but not selected as he is worried he could just not be picked to save money so wants it written if he is fit to play regardless of whether or not he is selected he earns £3500p.w.

City however do not want to agree with this and are propasing a middle of the ground wage (not sure of the amount prob around £2000p.w if he isn't selected and fit to play)

At the minute it's a bit of a standstill as both parties sticking to their guns.

Middlesbrough are set to sign Stewart Downing on a 3 year deal after the former Liverpool man turned down several premier league teams in order to sign for his hometown club.
Negotiations are still ongoing regarding a package deal with West Ham which would see a 7m pound fee paid in two installments.
Downing is keen on the deal and has let West Ham know that Middlesbrough is the only place ge wants to leave for.
The player is so keen on the deal that he is prepared to take a wage cut.
Steve Gibson has been a big factor in the deal and has pledged to back AK as far as the money stretches.

seems doubtful but if it happens i will be over the moon

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2015 13:19:55
Sorry, but just no. No player with any level of ambition is going to turn down several Premier League clubs to play in the Championship for significantly less money. And where on Earth is the £7m meant to come from? At best that would be pretty much the entire budget for 2 seasons (barring promotion) on 1 player.

29 Jun 2015 13:24:14
7mill wasted he's 31 now would love downing but seven million is a lot could buyua a striker to take us up.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2015 14:46:21
Merson dropped down years ago, it depends on the player and if he is just money motivated there maybe things in his contract where he gets a bonus of x if we go up

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2015 16:06:28
Surely this can't actually happen.
Do we really want to spend so much money on a non goalscoring midfielder. I like downing and if we had gone up then Yeh but not if it means our entire budget is spent on Stewie.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2015 16:28:22

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2015 17:51:33
I would love to see Downing back at the club, but don't think 7mil should be spent! we should try and offer Tomlin for him as Tomlin was very inconsistent last season but proved his worth on the majority of occasions.

I've never heard such tosh in all my life Downing in who is a has been and Adomah, Tomlin and Kike out if this was true which I very much doubt why on earth would we get rid of two of a better players and a striker who's going to be on fire this season. In Karanka we trust UTB.

He's on a weeks trial.

If he's no good he goes back to Spain at the end of the week.

If he is good there's a possibility we sign him and he could be an asset.

Not sure how taking a punt on one young player will make or break our season.

Preston are a good side but you go to Bristol City because they are building something special. The setup from owner down to groundskeeper is at a special level and they could be on the brink of establishing themselves as a higher level team. That's why you'd go.

Tbf had we played under Adkins last season we would have demolished pathetic buy the league teams like Bristol City.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 22:36:59
And that's like saying if we had a billion pound to spend & Mourinho as manager we would have won the league!!
You didn't have Adkins & you didn't win the league!!

The same as Bristol City didn't buy the league as they actually made more on transfers than they lost!!

Sore losers say we bought the league. We brought a few in on frees and bought a few others for small amounts. Like was said we actually made money in total last summer. We had the smallest squad in the league as well. Just because Bristol City are well run doesn't make them big spenders.
