Lewis Grabban was set to sign for Brighton today and according to local media was close to signing before noon to be available for Saturday, but Reading have had an offer accepted and Grabban is set for talks with them before making a decision on his future.

Reading are close to announcing new Omani ownership with links to the Sultanate of Oman/Omani Royal Family. Reading are also set to receive £1.2m from the sale of WBA striker Shane Long to Hull.

With the wages Reading pay, it should be wrapped up early next week.

There does seem to be some substance to this but as usual the details are vague at best. It's probably the Sultans 10 year son, who's worth a lot less. Ring any bells?

I hope it happens but certainly not holding my breath.

No chance Celtic would waste their time or money on Glen Whelan when we've just signed the most promising player from Norway and player of the year, also you failed to mention Veltic are favourites to sign Leigh Griffiths, he wants Champions league and silverware.

15 Jan 2014 07:07:38

Hull city chairman is to give up on football and buy a zoo. Then he can have his tigers.

14 Jan 2014 18:33:26
Shows what a self centered hulls owner is to think of leaving the club because he may not get his way over the clubs name. all the money poured into the club why try and wipe out city's history. Go on a holiday with vincent tan to the land of tigers.

15 Jan 2014 08:15:35
Put a vote to the supporter and I doubt there would be a tiger in hull , respect the tradition of the club. Sounds like an owner is trying to bring attention to himself, put some of your money to wildlife conservation and save the tiger leave the club name alone.

15 Jan 2014 08:30:58
I can't see any name changes for hull city this season, all the paperwork is made out for this season as Hull city

15 Jan 2014 08:40:54
Just think of a prem league hull tigers, everton elephants, Chelsea cubs, Preston puma, s, Manchester moles, Portsmouth panthers, Bristol bulls, grimsby goats, Rotherham rhinos. Buy a farm

15 Jan 2014 08:48:47
In India the tiger is respected, the owner is trying to bring attention to his club from a country with a huge population it's not rocket science no doubt Vincent tan may try and beat him to it. At least hull have tiger colours.

09 Jan 2014 18:48:38
Told you of Cameron Stewart's move to Leeds on the 3rd January (confirmed today). Nahki Wells to Hull City to replace him. Adam le Fondre and / or Billy Sharp to move back to Yorkshire? Look out for some Leeds interest

Agree, Adam le Fondre to Leeds United. His replacement at Reading will be Billy Sharp from Southampton, expect a bid for Sharp of £800k very soon

Wells gone to Huddersfield.

10 Jan 2014 20:41:21
Sharp to Reading, Le Fondre to Leeds. Nahki Wells was never going to leave Yorkshire (& the Humber) region

{Ed029's Note - Le Fondre wouldn't play for McDermott again. You can look up his comments when McDermott was sacked at Reading.

11 Jan 2014 15:19:55
Eds, le Fondre needs to be playing regular first team football, Leeds can provide this. He's had disagreements with all his managers throughout his career, including Rochdale and Rotherham, so I'm reading nothing into this

05 Jan 2014 13:18:08

05 Jan 2014 23:16:54

13 Jan 2014 17:42:17

02 Jan 2014 20:54:06

Great win for hull who looked the worst team to play at southampton bit of a turnaround. Saints supporter

22 Dec 2013 12:18:05
many teams including DERBY, QPR, HULL, WIGAN and BLACKBURN will look at hamburger defender Michael Mancienne, EX Chelsea spent most of his Chelsea careers on loan at wolves where he appeared on the bench for England, hamburger are looking to get rid of him and others

23 Dec 2013 00:40:30
I have hear of him but I don't think he would join championship clubs in January on loan

How could he have played for England and Derby don't need anymore defenders they have Buxton, Keogh, Hoganson, Keane, Wisdom, Whitbread, Gjokaj and need I go on.

It's a permanent and they're looking off load players he's not a young boy now he is 25 however his wage may cause problems

Not going to happen We won't give them bennett to have Brayford back

23 Dec 2013 16:31:18
He has appeared for England on the bench because he is English?

26 Sep 2013 15:18:06

Hull City have offered a deal to 22 year old midfielder Conor Henderson, who was recently released by Arsenal. They're also considering a contract offer to Australian striker Mathew Fletcher, who is a free agent and scored twice for City reserves yesterday.

Steve Bruce

11 Sep 2013 16:36:05
Given how hull have acted this close season, it'll fall through at last minute, no ink in the pen, power cut flat tyre

Hull have in fact recruited very prudently this close season. UTT

I remember the last time we were in the premiership, we had all sorts of noddys posting dross about our club, I seem to remember wolves fans gloating look where they are now, Sunderland also had a few jibes, and they're not in the best of shape, now with the Shane long saga its the baggies, oops where are they in the league. Ok it's very early in the seaso, but there is a pattern developing. UTT

05 Sep 2013 07:23:16
Stoke looking to sign Shane Long for £7 million from West Brom after Hull's attempt to sign him failed

You do know the transfer window is shut now?

He's from Stoke.

05 Sep 2013 12:05:43
Why would you pay £7m for him as well? He's out of contract next Summer and they were willing to sell for £5-6m?

Jennings has had offers from 1 championship side and 2 league one sides (all deals til end of season) and barnsley isn't one of them.

{Ed029's Note - WBA accepted an offer of £6.5m, not less. Hull then backtracked on the agreed fee, and WBA rejected their revised offer.

I am guessing January transfer window?

It's just one word against the other it's not definitely the truth

He as 1year left on is contract then a further year in albions favour also they are still negotiating a new deal with him

He's from a little town in Ireland! Not stoke!

None of you know the truth of what happened, it's all speculation. At the moment it's just what you want to believe. Of course if you support WBA you are going to believe their version, likewise Hull.

Hull made an accusation albion replied hull shut up there's the truth

Hull shut up!! I think our lack of retort is based on she said he said! So mr know it all, we didn't exactly shut up! As for the eds comments, let's hope Mr Allam doesn't read this thread!!

City til I die

Hull were probably short of funds, having just spent £10k on a private jet to fly Long to Yorkshire to complete the deal in time.

Steve Bruce

11 Sep 2013 21:53:24
10k is a drop in the ocean that is £6. 5 tbh that is never what stopped it the 2 things which could of caused this is either 1. hull bid big hoping west brom would replace long then have to sell him for a lower fee later as they would have had too many strikers by the end of the day having brought in someone to replace him giving hull the opportunity to lower their offer and leaving west brom no choice but to accept OR 2. which seems most likely hull wanted to change the installement plan of the deal similar to real madrids 2 offers for bale (£86m all at once or £100m odd in installments)

{Ed003's Note - good post why not register your name so people can reply to a name,same goes for everyone really}

04 Sep 2013 20:15:56
Local journalist has just confirmed a statement coming out of West Bromwich Albion that Long would have been sold if not for Hull changing their original offer of £6.5 million for the striker, to a much lower fee. WBA pulled out after Hull offered £5 million. They also released a statement saying that Long could have been sold even if we lost out on Lukaku, the fee was the only stumbling block. WBA have opened up contract talks with Long who looks to increase his current 25k a week deal closer to 30k after a solid 2 year spell with the Baggies.

Wrong. sources that I can't declare said the deal fell through as city did not have the paperwork drafted in time so long and wba pulled out of the deal

^^I think you're wrong mate. Richard Garlick has already come out and said it was due to Hull City not having the necessary funds.

It's being reported in Hull, that West Brom wanted £6.5m up front and Hull wanted £5.5m, with £1m in add-on's, which the Baggies wouldn't accept.

Cos richard garlick knows abouts hulls finances? its paperwork I know one of hull city's legal staff

Why would west brom say it was about finances, when it would be much easier for them to say hull didn't complete paperwork in time, it was definately due to hulls finances, or rather the lack of them

Hull should be asked to apologise to westbrom and investigated into there financial dealings in future

10 Sep 2013 16:35:42
Richard Garlick! well he would say that wouldn't he?

11 Sep 2013 20:48:42
It would be very easy for Hull to come out and make a statement counter to WBA's but they don't have to do they? Richard Garlick and Steve Clarke are two real innocent ge ntlemen aren't they.

03 Sep 2013 15:37:56
Charlton sign Hull winger Cameron Stewart on loan till Jan 2

03 Sep 2013 13:10:55
Mclean going to sheff utd on loan from hull city

02 Sep 2013 19:18:25
local radio source Tom Ross confirms Hull city in for WBA Shane Long, Long has left Irish training camp to hold talks, if correct what the hell is going on at Albion?

Id like to no that my self i'm getting very anxious about the next few hours things seem to be getting out of hand

Long out, sessegnon Lukaku in, plus Quagrelarri [spelling sorry]

Its a 5m fee

Long isn't very good

If long goes get rid of Clarke as well, if lukaku's linked with everton why not try get him? Anechebe is rubbish x_x sessengong will be a decent signing

Cant blame the bloke for wanting out he was like a headless chicken saturday on the wing not his fault

02 Sep 2013 21:13:07
Long is a very good player, don't be ridiculous

02 Sep 2013 21:17:51
Lukaku said that if he is going to be on loan, is preferred destination is West Brom! I hope Steve Clarke has heard that!

Absolutely disgusting, we are banking money to go down, peace wants to make a big buck out of the club,

02 Sep 2013 22:20:00
Lukaku and sessengnon set to be Albion players before 11pm. News on Anichebe is still unknown as Albion is concentrating on Lukaku. What a day for West Brom!

02 Sep 2013 22:23:15
Just heard that Lukaku is on his way to the Baggies to sign for a 1 year loan deal again

Lukas just signed

02 Sep 2013 23:13:19
Looks like Lukaku is going to go to Everton. Why didn't we start spending money earlier in the window. I think we could get relegated this year!

Losing lukaku is a disgrace, Peace needs to go to a championship club!

You lot make me laugh Shane long hasn't done a tap since Xmas does playin on the right mean you can't run, try, or even trap a ball anichebe is loads better and sessegnon is different class shame about lukaku but the izzy brown spat has come back to bite us

Lukakuver was never going to sign - afraid he has gone from a 'big' club where he was a nobody to a 'big' club where he will be a nobody. Could have been a legend at Albion!

02 Sep 2013 17:58:07
Blackpool have been offerd hull city winger Cameron Stewert on a season long loan.

02 Sep 2013 11:57:19
Peterborough will be signing Hull forward Aaron McLean, possibly on a free transfer or long term loan deal. This will be his second spell at posh. He will be taking a wage cut in order to get first team football.

Posh dropped interest ages ago. he doesn't want to drop to league one. would always be welcome back though!

Good to see the 'make it up fairies' having one last hurrah on transfer deadline day

Kevin Doyle??

City til I die

Dream on, who's paying £40,000 a week for him thats what he's on at Wolves

Dream on! Doyle was a suggestion. Oh dear me, we attract an intelligent lot on our threads
