Ex-Inter hitman Christian Vieri has reopened old wounds by blasting the Nerazzurri for their treatment of star players.

The Fiorentina striker was one of the Beneamata's most prolific of all time with 123 goals in 190 games between 1999 and 2005, but he left under a cloud.

Vieri reportedly accused Inter of spying on him and even monitoring his telephone conversations and returned to the subject after last weekend's Tuscan derby.

'The truth will come out in the end and then everyone will see what happened,' Bobo told Sky Sports Italia

'Now isn't the time to talk about these things as there are lawyers working on it, but it's a disgrace that you don't know everything. I have all the documents so anyone can see the way Inter behaved. There is no reason to act like that towards a player, whoever he was. At Inter I think I only did well, but unfortunately we didn't win anything because there were other sides stronger than us. I scored goals, trained well and acted with professionalism.'

Vieri also gave his support for troubled marksman Adriano, who he believes has also suffered at the hands of the San Siro giants.

'Look at Adriano, great players have problems with Inter as the club should defend its players more,' Vieri raged.

'First they love you, then they hate you, then they love you. It's always the same with Inter.'

After an investigation, the Italian Football Federation initially dismissed Vieri's accusations in June, but the matter is far from closed.

Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has dismissed interest from Real Madrid.

"It's nice to feel appreciated and I'm honoured that Real Madrid are interested in me, but I'd have to say no," Mutu told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I'd like to extend my contract at Fiorentina, but there's no hurry as I'm already here for four more years. Talk about the transfer market doesn't bother me, I just want to win with this side. At the moment we are behind Milan, Inter and Roma, but we will be at that level soon."

Azzurri debutant Riccardo Montolivo has blasted the Siena public for jeering him and his Fiorentina teammates in Italy's friendly against South Africa.

The national side opted to use the Robur's Stadio Artemio Franchi, but it seemed that the locals were unable to put their animosity for their Florentine neighbours behind them.

Montolivo, Franco Semioli and Alessandro Gamberini were whistled despite their impressive performances as the Siensi prepare to host the Viola this weekend.

'It's sad to see that reaction because I think that when you play for your country you should never be whistled at,' Montolivo moaned.

'It doesn't matter though as there are always idiots, not just in Siena. I'm very happy with my debut and also Gamberini's. We are good friends and it was great to play our first Azzurri game together.'

Reports suggest that Fiorentina's striking star Adrian Mutu is on Real Madrid's radar, but the Romanian insists that he is happy in Florence.

After a tough chapter in his career, Mutu has reinvented himself at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and has become one of Serie A's most reliable hitmen.

Having hit 16 goals last term, the 28-year-old already has five to his name in the current campaign.

According to Spanish website Sport.es, La Liga champions Real Madrid are ready to offer around £12m for Mutu and would double his wage bill, but claims he is immovable.

'In Florence, just as in the national side, I have found a family where I feel at home,' the ex-Chelsea man told the Press.

'I get on very well with the players and the atmosphere of the city really suits me. At the moment I'm happy and I'm going nowhere.'

Madrid isn't the only destination to be suggested in recent weeks. Manchester City, Lyon and Dynamo Moscow have all been linked with unlikely swoops.

It is also believed that Milan are keeping a close eye on Mutu, as key striker Ronaldo's future remains uncertain.

Misfiring Inter Milan striker Adriano is still struggling for fitness after a back problem sidelined him from training earlier today.

The Nerazzurri who aren't on international duty were called up to take part in a light aerobic session at Appiano Gentile this afternoon, but the Brazilian didn't participate.

Instead, the South American took part in some light gym work as he struggles to recover from a back injury that he picked up around 10 days ago.

The former Fiorentina and Parma youngster has had a tough start to the season given the severe competition for places in the starting XI.

After being dropped altogether from the club's Champions League squad, Adriano has made just three Serie A appearances so far this term.

The Italian champions have been given tomorrow off by boss Roberto Mancini and will return to the Coach's disposal on Monday afternoon.

Bulgarian star Valeri Bojinov is confident his festive period will be full of cheer as the Manchester City striker has targeted a Christmas comeback at Eastlands.

Bojinov's fledging City career was cruelly cut short in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on August 19 as he suffered torn cruciate knee ligaments just eight minutes into his first start for the club.

It was a bitter pill to swallow given he had only completed a reported £6 million move from Serie A side Fiorentina on August 3.

After undergoing surgery in Italy, Bojinov has now returned to light training and is expected to return to Manchester in the near future to step up his rehabilitation.

The former Lecce starlet is now hopeful of featuring before the turn of the year as he looks to get his City career back on track.

"Thanks to Professor Mariani the recovery time is smaller than was initially stated," Bojinov told Sky Italia.

"If it responds well, as it has until now, I could return to the pitch for December 25."

08 October 2007

Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov has pointed the finger of blame at Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino over his enforced departure from the Viola last summer.

The young Bulgarian international was left in now doubt as to his lack of future prospects at Fiorentina after being sent out on a frustrating season-long loan to Juventus.

It appears the two men initially enjoyed a prosperous relationship as Corvino first bought a teenage Bojinov to Italy when he was held the post of Sporting Director at Lecce in 2002.

After moving to Fiorentina in 2005, Corvino insisted on bringing Bojinov with him.

However, since then Bojinov claims a row over contract talks led to him being frozen out of the first-team squad, and eventually paved the way for him to arrive in Manchester,

'Why did I leave Italy? Because of Corvino,' he insisted.

'I was told that I had to sign a new contract or I would be frozen out of the squad. I had a very good relationship with Coach Cesare Prandelli. I'm just sad that they chose to treat me like that because at the moment they have Tomas Ujfalusi whose contract is about to run out. At Juventus I was shut out and then they signed a great player like Vincenzo Iaquinta. Then in England I found a boss who had faith in me in Sven Goran Eriksson.'

Unfortunately for Bojinov he was struck down with a knee ligament injury in his first start in August for his new team, and has thus yet to show his new City fans exactly why he was lauded as a teenage sensation in Italy.

However, after an initial fear that he may miss the entire season, Bojinov revealed rather optimistically that he may be back for the festive season,

'When will I return? Doctor Paolo Mariani has said that it will be before Christmas,'

Romania boss Victor Piturca is down to the bare bones in some positions as he prepares his Romania side to face the Netherlands and Luxembourg in the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

A host of defensive injuries have left Victor Piturca reeling as he calls together his Romania squad to meet the Netherlands in Constanta and Luxembourg away from home.

Cosmin Contra and Mirel Radoi are definitely out, while Cristian Chivu and Gabriel Tamas are doubtful after injuries sustained for Inter and Celta Vigo (respectively) at the weekend.

What's more, 'keeper Danut Coman is injured, as are Razvan Cocis, Ianis Zicu and Recreativo's Laurentiu Rosu have been left out to recover from their respective afflictions.

There are some unusual names in the squad - George Ogararu and Florin Bratu, for example - but the Tricolorii are confident of picking up a vital win over the Netherlands to cement top spot in Group G.

The squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Bogdan Lobont (FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti), Marius Popa (FC Politehnica 1921 Ştiinţa Timişoara ).
