West Bromwich Albion sign Portuguese left back Tininho following a successful trial.

Tininho arrived at The Hawthorns on trial at the start of the week and helped Tony Mowbray's side to a 5-1 triumph against Northampton.

The 26 year old did enough to be handed a 2 year contract by The Baggies, with the option for a further season.

West Bromwich Albion have paid Beira-Mar £230,000 for Tininho, who joins countryman and fellow summer signing Filipe Teixeira at the Championship club.

"Tininho's got a wonderful personality, a nice left foot and is a decent athlete," Mowbray informed the club's official website.

"I have certainly got no worries about him with the ball. Just like Filipe, he will require time to adjust to the different demands of the English game, however we think there is enough raw material there for him to make a positive impact at the club."

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray signed midfielder Filipe Teixeira from Portuguese side Academica de Coimbra for £600,000.

The 26 year old signed a 3 year deal at the Hawthorns and joins Shelton Martis and Craig Beattie as new recruits in the summer.

Mowbray said, "Filipe is a creative midfielder from Portugal. He's a talented, very technical player who we identified and we are delighted he's joined us. He will hopefully play a big part in what we are attempting to achieve."

Teixeira started his career at Felgueiras before moving to French Ligue One club Istres in 2001.

He then enjoyed a spell alongside Ronaldinho at Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Coimbra in 2005.
