David Jones

Birth Date: 04/11/1984
Birth Place: Southport
Birth Nation: England
Height: 180cm
Weight: 64kg
Nationality: English
Position: Midfielder

Though eligible for Wales he has chosen to play for England U-21s. David signed for Manchester United as an apprentice in July 2001, but he had to wait till the 1st December 2004 for his first senior game. 'Jonah' came on as a subsitute in a 1-0 League Cup victory over Arsenal.

Jones made his first start in an embarrassing draw with non league side Exeter City in the FA Cup in January 2005.

The summer of 2005 saw a couple of United's first team midfielders leave the club but still he was sent out to start the season at Preston North End to gain first team experience. Jones played a key role as PNE entered the play off race but with the departure of Roy Keane and injuries to fellow midfielders Paul Scholes and Quinton Fortune it was expected David would be recalled by Man Utd. Instead David was sent off to Holland to join NEC Nijmegen on loan until the end of the season.

After playing a starring role for the Dutch club, he even came runners-up in their Player of the Year vote, they made enquiries about capturing Jones on a permanent deal but as yet Man Utd have shown no interest in selling him.
