Darren 'The Cat' Kenton came out of the Canaries' youth academy. He played in the successful youth team of 1996/97. He progressed into the first team and made his debut in October 1997 against Tranmere. Darren made another 10 appearances during the 1997/98 campaign Darren was transfer listed in mid August 1999 but came off the list in December 1999 signing a one year extension to his contract.
In January 2001, Darren signed another new contract that would keep him at Norwich until
2003. Last season was Darren Kenton's best season. he was very impressive in a number of positions across the back four and he also notched up four crucial goals Darren scored the first of his four goals at Hillsborough when he scored the Canaries' first goal at Sheffield Wednesday as City won 5-0.
He then scored both of the City goals in a 2-1 win over Sheffield United at Carrow Road in February. Number four goal of the campaign was the winner over Gillingham at Carrow Road which saw the Canaries start a seven game unbeaten run which led to the Club going through to the play-off final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff
In October 2002, the media speculated that Kenton would move to Newcastle United to plug Bobby Robson's defense but Norwich denied that St James's Park had made an enquiry for Kenton. But they admit interest in Kenton from premiership clubs is inevitable, with Norwich City conceding only eight goals all season. In May 2003 Southampton signed Darren Kenton on a free. He had recently agreed to cancel his contract after Norwich failed to win promotion in 2003.
Darren Kenton Transfer Rumours 17 08 2007 Crystal Palace will be without midfielder Ben Watson for their 1st home game of the season against Leicester.
Watson damaged ankle ligaments in the Carling Cup 1st round defeat at Bristol Rovers in midweek, and expects to be on the sidelines for up to 2 weeks.
Palace manager Peter Taylor is probably going to make changes to his starting line up after leaving out several 1st team regulars for the game against Rovers.
Goalkeeper Julian Speroni, defenders Matt Lawrence and Leon Cort, midfielder Mark Kennedy and forwards Jamie Scowcroft, who scored a hat trick in the 4-1 triumph at Southampton last weekend, and Clinton Morrison should all be recalled.
Defender Jeff Hughes (groin), midfielder Carl Fletcher and winger Paul Ifill (both hamstring) remain doubtful.
Leicester manager Martin Allen adds 3 new players to his squad.
New transfers Clive Clarke and Marton Fulop will travel to Selhurst Park following their arrivals from Sunderland whilst Patrick Kisnorbo is available for the 1st time this season after a 2 match suspension incurred for his red card against Wolves on the final day of last term.
Clarke and Kisnorbo would go straight into the side as James Chambers is still struggling with the calf injury he sustained in the opening day defeat to Blackpool and Darren Kenton is doubtful after hurting his ribs at Accrington in the Carling Cup.
Midfielder Jonathan Hayes (thigh) and forward Elvis Hammond (ankle) are also likely to miss out.
20 06 2007 Leicester City have placed defender Darren Kenton on the transfer list.
The 28 year old has made 24 league and cup appearances for City since joining them from Southampton in June 2006.
Foxes manager Martin Allen has already transfer-listed Rab Douglas, Mark De Vries, Alan Maybury, Stephen Hughes and Elvis Hammond since his appointment.
"By informing him early, it should allow him an opportunity to start afresh with a new club going into pre season," Allen informed City's website.
