UEFA Cup contenders ACF Fiorentina have rewarded captain Dario Dainelli with a new 4 year contract that will tie him to the Serie A side until 2011.
The former Brescia Calcio defender, who turns 28 tomorrow, joined the Viola ahead of the 2004/05 season and has since played 88 games in 3 seasons in Florence.
The reliable centre back made 31 appearances last term as Fiorentina finished 6th in Serie A and qualified for the UEFA Cup inspite of starting the league campaign with a 15 point deduction.
Dainelli, whose previous contract was due to expire at the end of this month, has won one cap for Italy, appearing for the Azzurri in a 1-1 draw with Ecuador in June 2005.
