Brazilian defender Dennis Souza has landed a trial at Championship club Barnsley.
Souza currently plays for Charleroi in Belgium and will spend time training with Simon Davey's team this week.
Barnsley have also been granted clearance to select the stopper in the pre season friendlies with Buxton and Rotherham.
Meanwhile, Tykes manager Davey has confidence new signing Marciano Bruma will be fit to start the new season inspite of breaking his hand.
Bruma, who joined on a free transfer from Sparta Rotterdam earlier in the summer, suffered the injury in training.
Davey informed the club's official website, "Marciano has broken his hand. It happened in a challenge with Dominik Werling, who stood on his hand. It is unfortunate and it is looking as though he will be required to have it pinned, even though he will meet with the doc and see a specialist later in the week. We must wait and see how long it will take, even though there is still the possibility of Marciano wearing a protective soft cast in games. We'll know more soon."

Goalkeeper Patrice Luzi returns to France to join Stade Rennais FC from Belgium's R. Charleroi SC as the club are preparing for UEFA Cup football next season.
The 26 year old former Liverpool FC player signed a 3 year contract at Rennes. He said, "I will be 2nd choice keeper [behind Simon Pouplin] with no guarantee even of playing in the domestic cups. I had offers from Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece and Turkey however I preferred Rennes. I only hope I'll take my chance if it comes."
Rennes' 2nd summer recruit following the arrival of Sweden defender Petter Hansson, he replaces veteran Christophe Revault who has moved to Ligue 2 club Le Havre AC.
Discovered by AS Monaco FC, Luzi was with AC Ajaccio before transferring to Liverpool in 2002. He made a solitary substitute appearance during 3 campaigns in England, before switching to R. Excelsior Mouscron and then Charleroi last summer.
