Cagliari President Massimo Cellino has reacted furiously to suggestions that the Rossoblu should be punished after a homemade bomb hit a player.

A missile struck Cagliari's Antonino D'Agostino as he was saluting the fans following a 1-1 Derby delle Isole draw with Catania.

The object appeared to have been thrown by a home fan and it is possible that Cagliari may now be forced to play behind closed doors.

'The fault doesn't lie with Cagliari, but with everyone,' Cellino bellowed.

'We have spent huge amounts on turnstiles, video cameras and numbered and assigned seats. We have done everything that has been asked and then some imbecile throws a missile. What am I supposed to do, shut the stadium? That would achieve nothing. If the fans need to be punished, we should be the ones to do it.'

D'Agostino suffered concussion and shock, but seems to have avoided any serious injury.

Cagliari are currently nervously awaiting the result of an investigation by the Disciplinary Commission.

Internazionale striker David Suazo has been banned for one match following his dismissal in the UEFA Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven.

Two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic clinched victory for Inter in the Group G match earlier this month, before Suazo was red carded in the final minutes for using an elbow.

The Honduras international, who had only come on as a substitute in the 61st minute, will now miss Inter's next Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow on 23rd October.

He will come back into contention for the home game with the Russian a fortnight later.

Suazo, who only joined Inter from Cagliari in the summer, has had to compete with the likes of Adriano, Hernan Crespo and Ibrahimovic for a place in Roberto Mancini's side this season.

Nigerian striking prodigy Victor Obinna has cheated death after a serious car crash on the way back from training with Chievo.

The former Cagliari and Parma target was driving towards Verona when he had to swerve to avoid a car that was attempting to overtake at a corner.

Obinna's Audi spun and rolled several times before coming to rest upside down and the talented youngster was taken to hospital amist fears he may have sustained life-threatening injuries.

'When I saw the car I thought the worst as it had been completely destroyed,' Chievo club doctor Giuliano Corradini recalled.

'But then I saw Obi and he was already conscious and talking and it calmed me down. He has bruises everywhere and is in shock after the crash.'

Obinna's recovery has been described as 'miraculous' by teammate Aleandro Rosi, who was a few cars behind him when the accident happened.

The scene of the crash was incredibly just 100 metres from the spot where Congolese player Jason Mayele tragically died in a crash in March 2002.

The 26-year-old had been one of the club's brightest hopes and the number 30 shirt at Chievo has been retired in his honour.

Amazingly, Obinna is expected to miss just one game as a result of his near-death experience and could be ready to play against Ascoli in Week 9.
