Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez insists he has not made a renewed attempt to land West Ham United striker Bobby Zamora.
The former Northern Ireland manager tried unsuccessfully to sign the 26-year-old in the summer but was recently rumoured to be lining up a £4million bid for the player.
However, Sanchez said: "There's money still available. Bobby was a player we asked about during the close season and were told no. I've seen that we've been linked with several players all of a sudden. I don't know where that's come from because there's nothing we can do right now. We wouldn't make our interest known earlier because you look foolish if you don't get the player. It alerts other people, too."
Zamora made his name at Brighton, scoring 77 times in 137 appearances for the Seagulls, but his career stalled after a disappointingly brief spell with Spurs.
Since moving to Upton Park in early 2004, Zamora has found the net 39 times in 142 games for the Hammers.

Peter Taylor was fired as Crystal Palace manager Monday after the London club's poor start to the League Championship season.
Palace drew 1-1 with Hull on Saturday and is in 19th place with 10 points from 10 games.
"Crystal Palace Football Club announce that Peter Taylor's contract has been terminated with immediate effect," the club said on its Web site.
Taylor, 54, took over after Iain Dowie left in June 2006, but the club did not challenge for promotion to the Premier League last season, finishing 12th. Palace was relegated from the Premier League in 2005.
Taylor previously coached at lower league clubs Hull, Brighton, Leicester, Gillingham and Southend.
He made four England appearances as a midfielder, twice managed the country's under-21 team and was caretaker manager for the senior team for one match in 2000, when he gave David Beckham the captaincy for the first time.
Palace chairman Simon Jordan now has the two-week international break to find a replacement for Taylor, who is the seventh manager to leave Selhurst Park in seven years.
Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has been linked with the Palace job.

Birmingham City chairman David Gold has denied reports he is about to invest in Brighton & Hove Albion.
Gold says he met with Seagulls chairman Dick Knight but has "not expressed an interest in investing in Brighton".
But Gold admits he would be interested in talking to clubs in the south if and when he sells his remaining 23.22% shareholding in Birmingham.
"Dick and I had an interesting discussion covering many issues but I'm still Birmingham chairman," he said.
Under FA and Football League rules, Gold cannot invest in another club while he has a shareholding in Birmingham.
He told the Brighton website: "Until I sell my remaining shares it would be inappropriate for me to say more. What the future holds for me depends on what happens at Birmingham. If I leave there would be clubs I would be interested in talking to - but they would have to be in the south."
