Coleraine have snapped up Damien Whitehead following his release from Newry City.

But the English-born striker will not be available for Thursday's CIS Cup game against Armagh City.

"Damien will be a very useful addition to our squad, but will spend time improving his fitness," said manager Marty Quinn.

"He will play in our reserves during the CIS Cup and he should then be in top shape by the start of the League."

Glenavon boss Colin Malone has signed Gavin McDonald from bankrupt Eircom League outfit Dublin City. The versatile McDonald, who can play in central defence, right back or central midfield, joined the club after the 2-2 draw with Lurgan Celtic on Saturday.

McDonald played for Armagh City three years ago when Malone was boss before moving to Shelbourne. Meanwhile, Glenavon have agreed to Kieran O'Connor's request to be put on the transfer list.
