West Ham are facing up to a potential injury crisis, with the possibility that striker Craig Bellamy may need to have an operation.
The Welsh striker has been sent to see a specialist in Germany, but the club fear he may need to go under the knife and have effectively ruled him out of Wales' upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers.
'Craig Bellamy has an ongoing groin problem and is seeing a consultant in Germany,' Hammers assistant manager Mervyn Day told the club's official website.
"He may need an operation but we'll find that out later today [Thursday]. I wouldn't have thought he'll be on international duty next week even it is the best case scenario."
Scott Parker has been beset by problems since making the move to Upton Park and he has been sidelined once again with a knee complaint, while Anton Ferdinand will miss the weekend clash with Aston Villa with a hamstring problem.
'Anton has a slight hamstring strain,' added Day. 'Scott Parker has damaged his medial ligaments following that challenge from Mathieu Flamini on Saturday.'
