Jean-Claude Plessis concedes financial issues are hindering Sochaux's efforts to re-sign Anthony Le Tallec.

The Liverpool forward spent last season on loan at Sochaux and scored 4 goals in 25 appearances in Ligue 1.

The French side would like Le Tallec back for the coming campaign, with the player appearing to have little prospect of regular football at Anfield.

But Sochaux president Plessis admitted that that the 22 year old's current salary at Liverpool is prohibitive.

Plessis remains hoping that of bringing Le Tallec back to the club, however is adamant he will not break the bank for the youngster.

"It is no longer a question of getting an more attacker, save perhaps Anthony," Plessis informed French newspaper L'Est Republicain.

"But that remains subject to conditions that we all know about. He has an English salary and I cannot break the wage bill of this club like that."

Sochaux chairman Jean-Claude Plessis expects to secure Anthony Le Tallec on a permanent basis.

Le Tallec is back at Liverpool after a season on loan at Sochaux however he is not expects to remain at Anfield.

West Ham, Fulham and Birmingham have all been linked with the young French forward however Sochaux have now re-entered the chase.

Plessis mentioned earlier in the summer he was not planning to keep Le Tallec at Stade Bonal, however he has now had a change of heart and would like him to return this season.

Rafa Benitez is understood to want 4 million Euros (£2.7 million) and Sochaux are thinking about whether to make a move.

"Indeed we are thinking about it," Plessis confirmed.

"Anthony is a very talented player, who was very fair with us last season. If the conditions are acceptable, why not sign him."

Anthony Le Tallec is a reported target for Premier League clubs West Ham, Fulham and Birmingham.

The young French forward is back at Liverpool after a season on loan at Sochaux, however his future with The Reds is uncertain.

Inspite of having 2 years remaining on his contract at Anfield, Le Tallec is probably going to leave Liverpool before the transfer window closes.

Le Tallec impressed at Sochaux and Spanish side Recreativo Huelva were thought to be keen on the 22 year old.

However, their interest has now cooled, even though as stated by L'Equipe 3 top flight clubs in England are admirers.

West Ham, Fulham and Birmingham are all being linked with a bid for the talented Le Tallec, who spent the 2005/06 season with Sunderland.
